Mostly new hammered celestial studs and some wonderful cast crescent moons. I am a tentative hammerer and hammering scrap silver into shot plates with enough force is a challenge for me in a non-soundproof apartment, but it must be done. ✨

Two new Baltic Amber intaglio crows have flown in, one is a pendant and the other a necklace featuring a double satellite chain. Crows hold a place in many cultures worldwide due to their intelligence, mysterious nature, and connection to both life and death. Across various mythologies, they are seen as messengers, protectors, or symbols of transformation. I sometimes hear crows in my neighborhood but have never seen one but am happy to know that they’re there.

In Western culture, the number 13 is considered unlucky, but in others, it’s viewed as an Angel number and heralds transformation and spiritual rebirth. There are a number of reasons to consider this number as a message from guardian spirits, a cue to stay positive, to shed the past and build a more stable present for yourself. From the Kabbalah to the Tarot to Christianity, this number indicates positivity and connection to whatever divinity you worship. That’s a lot of heavy lifting for a vintage luggage tag and moonstone, but you fortunately can name your intention as you wear it OR just enjoy it as a little mixed metal bauble. 🙏😌

Ahh, perfect Sunday School attendance medals upcycled into 5 inch long statement earrings. These are vintage medals made by Little’s Cross and Crown System and are wonderful little works of art. Enamel and gold tone, but one ladder rung is marked 8K gold. I added some fun elements to them and they may be my favorite assemblage pieces ever. Sterling, brass, glass and rhinestone embellishments add to the retro devotional goodness!

Years ago I chose some twigs from my local park and had them cast in sterling and bronze. I took two silver rings from my stash, joined them, oxidized one and hung them from a pretty elongated 26-inch cable chain to make this elemental woodland necklace. Bare branches are so beautiful and the twig texture is captured forever.

Last week I visited The Morgan Library & Museum to see the splendid Tarot! Renaissance Symbols, Modern Visions exhibit. The exhibit examines the origins of Tarot from its beginnings as a courtly card game of skill to its later use in the occult world. Some of the earliest cards created are on exhibit, and the painting detail and level of craftsmanship is breathtaking. There are also modern tarot cards on display, also gorgeous. This show closes on October 4, so if you haven’t seen it, do hurry. I’ve always been drawn to these images for their graphic beauty and am only just now learning about the meanings, which is daunting, as I don’t have the time for dedicated study. Like many, I have a deck that I’ve never used. 😑

My stash of glass cabochons calls to me every day and I added some new pieces to the collection already in my shop, with more waiting to be finished on my bench. They.’re such amazing little works of art. I just finished reading The Glass Maker by Tracy Chevalier and it’s a wonderful read that increased my knowledge of how glass was made, in addition to being a great read. There’s crinkle, fused and dichroic glass here. Maybe in my next life I’ll learn how to make these little beauties!

Two very different orange earring options: Fire opal and carnelian coffins ⚰️ in sterling and fine silver. Those fire opals are like looking down into a volcano 🌋!

I could make pieces like this all year if I let myself. 🙄 I’ve always loved the Halloween aesthetic and Gothic everything. There’s more to come and hopefully I’ll actually finish all that I’ve laid out on my work trays. Here’s a huge white jade skull and some cute hematite coffins.
