Dear Friends of Ten Thousand Villages,

It is with heavy hearts that we share the news that our store is closing.

Please know that this decision did not come easily, nor was it made lightly. In the end, the decision to close came down to the fact that this is not a viable location for our store.

We have loved getting to know you, and consider you a part of our Villages family. Our mission is to provide opportunities for artisans in developing countries to earn income by creating a market for their unique handicrafts and sharing their stories with people in our community.

We hope you will continue to support the fair trade mission of our organization by patronizing other Ten Thousand Villages locations, such as our location in Charlottesville, or by visiting tenthousandvillages.com.

Ten Thousand Villages will donate 10% of sales on Wednesday, November 20, 2013 to typhoon response. Our donation will be made to Mennonite Central Committee’s Typhoon Haiyan Response. MCC is working through Church World Service to fund urgent food and non-food items, and with other partners to determine needs for long-term recovery. MCC is known for working long after media interest has dwindled, helping communities recover and rebuild from devastation.

Orphan Helpers is a multi-denominational Christian ministry dedicated to serving and ministering to the spiritual, emotional, educational, and physical needs of orphaned, abused, and incarcerated children. We focus our work in government-run orphanages and detention centers in El Salvador and Honduras.

The children we serve have been denied by their own families, passed over by private orphanages, and rejected by society as a whole. Orphan Helpers hires native teachers and workers in the centers and also sends mission teams to Central America to serve these children from within the local communities.

The hope of Orphan Helpers is to multiply its effect by empowering today's orphans to become tomorrow's helpers!
