🩸 Meet October’s Most Bewitching Birthstone 🎃

Name: Red Tourmaline and Diamond Halo Pendant in 14K White Gold

Also Answers To: The Crimson Countess, Ruby’s Spooky Cousin, The One Who Definitely Knows What Happened in the Attic

Occupation: Professional Spellcaster & Keeper of Mysterious Secrets

Backstory:
Some October birthstones prefer to keep things light and cheerful. This one? Not so much.

With its deep red tourmaline center, sparkling diamond halo, and cool white gold setting, this pendant looks like it stepped straight out of a haunted mansion just after midnight. Mysterious, dramatic, and just a little bit suspicious, it looks perfectly at home under a full moon or at a costume party.

What This Pendant Needs:
A candlelit room. A velvet cape. A moonlit evening. Perhaps a little fog for dramatic effect.

And absolutely no one asking why it is glowing like that. 🩸🕯️👻

October's tourmaline may come in nearly every color imaginable, but this crimson beauty clearly has a taste for the darker side of the season!

We think these opal doublet studs in 14K yellow gold speak for themselves!

Because honestly, we’ve been trying to come up with something to say about them, and October’s birthstone has once again made our job very difficult.

We could call them ethereal.
We could wax eloquent regarding their iridescence.
We could mention the flashes of pink, blue, green, and every color in between.
We could even say they look like tiny bits of magic, which feels especially appropriate now that spooky season is here. 👻✨

But somehow, none of it quite does them justice.

So we’re going to stop trying.

Opal: 1
Our vocabulary: 0

Some jewelry really does speak for itself. 🖤

Fall may officially be here, but we’ll never say no to a slice of watermelon! 🍉

When most people think of October’s birthstone, pink tourmaline is probably the first color that comes to mind. But tourmaline comes in just about every color imaginable, and rare watermelon tourmaline is definitely one of our favorites.

For this fall photo shoot, we couldn’t resist pairing a freeform slice of watermelon tourmaline in 14K yellow gold with green tourmaline studs in 14K white gold. A little unexpected for October, but we think they make quite the colorful combination.

If your birthday is in October but pink isn’t quite your color, we’ve got plenty of tourmaline options to choose from! 💚🩷

Do you have any idea how hard it is to photograph opals?!

We're in the office with our little photo studio, turning off the overhead lights, moving the ring light, turning the lights back on, using jewelers forceps to move the pieces 2mm to the right, cycling through every setting the ring light has trying to find the perfect one for each opal cause some like warm light, some like cold, contorting into yoga poses we didn't know had names to get the camera at just the right angle, turning the overhead lights back off again and moving the ring light, AGAIN. We're tired 😂

But all of that said, October's birthstone makes it totally worth it when we capture images like this! These stunning 14K yellow, beaded opal studs were super shy at first, but we think they finally warmed up to the camera after only 300 discarded blurry or bland shots. And it's not opal's fault that a camera doesn't know how to do it justice!

Stop by and take a peek at the way these beauties shimmer for yourself. While the camera may be picky, there is no mistaking their natural iridescence in person!

One of our customers has a mischievous platinum ring that thought it would be fun to play hide and seek.

Unfortunately, it picked the worst possible hiding spot and didn’t realize the sink was home to a terrifying monster, who was not thrilled to have an unexpected visitor! 😱

When this ring came into the shop, it was scratched, battered, and definitely having a rough day.

But we weren’t ready to call it quits.

After some serious bench work, we were able to bring it back to a wearable state. It may have come out of the fight with a little new texture, but thankfully, this ring lived to see another day.

💜 September’s Sapphire Has a Small But Mighty Side

Name: Purple Sapphire Micro Bezel Studs

Also Known As: Tiny Titans, Petite Powerhouses

Occupation: Making a little color go a long way.

The Backstory:
Small in size, but certainly not lacking in personality. These purple sapphires bring a rich violet glow to a classic micro bezel setting, creating an easy little pop of color that works beautifully on its own or alongside your other favorites. Their size keeps them understated, while the sapphire gives them just enough presence to stand out.

What These Earrings Need:
An everyday wardrobe, a second piercing, or really any excuse to add a little purple.

✨ Tiny but mighty. Sapphire at heart.

We’re down to the final 3 zodiacs of the year! ✨

When we started this series earlier this year, we wanted to take a closer look at the gemstones connected to each zodiac sign and the personalities they’re said to represent. Now that we’re nearing the end, we have to ask… have you been enjoying the series? Have you discovered a new gemstone connection along the way, or maybe even found a stone that feels especially “you”? 👀

Next up is Libra, September 23 through October 22. ♎

Libra has a knack for making life feel a little more beautiful. From appreciating the details to bringing people together, this air sign is drawn to connection, creativity, and a world where everything feels just a little more harmonious.

✨ Rose Quartz brings a soft, loving energy associated with compassion and connection.

✨ Pink Tourmaline is thought to encourage joy, kindness, and emotional warmth.

✨ Opal is linked with creativity, imagination, and a sense of individuality.

Three gemstones with plenty of personality for a sign that knows beauty is about more than what meets the eye.

There is a reason sapphire has remained a favorite for centuries. Best known for its rich blue hues, this September birthstone has a colorful side that is easy to overlook. Sapphires can be found in an array of shades, from soft pinks and vibrant yellows to lush greens, warm oranges, and even delicate lavender.

Yet no matter the color, sapphire has a distinctive beauty all its own. Its exceptional durability and natural brilliance make it a gemstone that feels both timeless and full of personality, whether it makes a statement or adds just the right touch of color.

As September’s birthstone, sapphire is a meaningful way to celebrate a birthday, a milestone, or someone who brings a little extra brilliance to your life. And while blue may be its signature shade, sapphire has a few surprises of its own.
