The next painting will be the Yankee Girl with power house and formans home along with what can be seen of the bunk house. The railroad had the 2-8-0 Red Mountain and Silverton steam Engine No. 100 also known as the "Ouray" servicing the Red Mountain Pass area, which will be heading back toward Silverton loaded with silver ore.

Zambian Emerald. Bought at high risk 12.2 cts for $200. After removal of 98% of the black by sandpaper and hand, it weighed 9.2 cts. First true rough form showing cracks and imperfections now at a weight of 5.6 cts. Now to dop it up and get cutting.

My latest project. An old peice of Gadolium Gallium lab grown garnet. GGG has been around for a while as a diamond substitute but this peice has family connections and the first stone will return to Texas to the individual who has allowed me to cut it. The 2" base , size and shape do not give the expected weight of this rough. Over 255 grams feels quite heavy in the hand.

ALTERNATE MINERALITY

My wife and I started this business as a way to pay for our hobby of mineral collecting. We started with the Colorado Corner at the Main Mineral Show that is put on by the local mineral clubs every September. Over the years it has grown, first it was just specimens, then we added Marcella’s jewelry, then came my faceting and artwork. I hope you enjoy our post.
