Many have been asking what Hand Over Hand Production has been doing lately....well here it is! The students are making aroma bead mason jars and Michigan air fresheners with the theme "Michigan Memories" the fragrances take you back to fond memories such as bonfire by the lake, a day at the lake, leelanau vineyards, holland tulips and so much more. The students are working hard to have the product ready for the holidays.

Starting a new school year with some setbacks with our ice dyeing. Found out the hard way that dye does not like polyester in scarves unless you boil them :( but with anything in life you learn and grow. Just want to let those know that my students past and present products will be at the Bizarre Bazaar in Northville on November 7th. There will be our shaving cream and food dye pendant necklaces, ice dye scarves, and repurposed tissue paper pendant necklaces.

Since the inception of this student led business (2011) I as their teacher have seen beautiful and wonderful products produced, the ability to give back to those in needs, students abilities and self confidence soar, but most of all the belief and awe from others that children with disabilities are artist, business men and women, and viable people in the community. I will be returning to Cooke in the fall after seven years at the high school and focusing on my new classroom. I am hoping to continue the business with my new students but at the present moment it is unsure. A little time off is not all that bad. I just want to thank everyone who believed in my students and making this business an awesome experience

Just finished our canvas art using the left over tissue paper. The students put the left over tissue paper on card stock and then punched out circles and glued them to the tree to make leaves. Turned out beautiful!

I haven't posted in quite a while. I have been so busy with my new class which has kept me hopping. The business is still thriving and this school year we have decided to start something new. The students are taking bleeding art tissue paper and making beautiful silk scarves with it. Afterwards, instead of throwing away the used tissue paper we are recycling it into beautiful pendants and bracelets. We will be selling them at NHS closer to December.
