His business was framing shell cameos for other stores, which is how the name "Cameo Shop" came to be. In addition to framing cameos, David specialized in custom-made jewelry and antique jewelry restoration, and he conducted classes in jewelry making. After a tour of duty in the military, his son Arthur joined the business in 1971; Arthur worked closely with his father and learned his craft.
