Thank You for Trusting Us With Your Jewelry
Thank you for bringing your jewelry to EcoKarat. Every repair we do helps a beloved piece last longer, and that’s one of the most sustainable things jewelry can do. Below, we’ve put together answers to the questions we hear most often at the counter, plus a holiday idea we’re excited about.
Sizing: When Should a Ring Be Resized?
Fingers change size through the day and the seasons. Cold weather can make them shrink, so a ring that fits in summer can slip off in December. We’d suggest a resize if:
Your ring spins or slides past your knuckle easily
It leaves a deep mark or feels tight by the end of the day
You’ve had to stop wearing it
Most gold and silver bands can be sized up or down. Some styles, such as eternity bands, tension settings, and some alternative metals, need a different approach. Bring yours in and we’ll tell you honestly what’s possible.
Winter tip: If your ring feels loose in the cold, take it off before washing your hands outdoors or putting on gloves. That’s when most rings get lost.
Soldering: Small Fixes That Save Big Pieces
A broken chain or weak clasp doesn’t mean the piece is done. Soldering joins metal back together so it’s strong again, often so neatly you can’t see where it was. Common fixes we do:
-Broken necklace and bracelet chains
-Loose or worn jump rings and clasps
-Cracked ring shanks
-Earring posts that have snapped off
If you spot a kink, a thin link, or a clasp that won’t stay shut, bring it in early. A small repair now can prevent a lost piece later.
