Collector of marine chronometers and military/navigational timepieces and instruments; providing superior products to fellow watch and clock collectors and enthusiasts worldwide since 1996. Some of my watches and bands appeared in movies such as Hart’s War with Bruce Willis and Saving Private Ryan with Tom Hanks. We established the Windy City Watch Collector in Chicago, IL, USA in 1996 with the go

al of providing products to fellow watch and clock collectors worldwide. In 2003, we opened an office in Amsterdam, The Netherlands along a canal near the Central Train Station. Since 2012, we have relocated back to the U.S., now in the college town of Oberlin, OH. In addition to a passion for vintage timepieces, I am also a fan and authorized dealer of current military issue watches from the Marathon Watch Company. Established in 1939, Marathon has been supplying precision watches and instruments to US, NATO and Israeli Defense forces as well as law enforcement agencies worldwide. We are proud to be Marathon’s oldest distributor in the US & Europe! We are also an authorized retailer for Lum-tec, an Ohio company that hand assembled their watches in Mentor, OH as well as Elliot Brown Watches of Dorset, UK. Both makers also produce watches of exceptional design, value and endurance. Let us know what we can supply you with for your next adventure.

New and old....Classic CSAR (Chronograph Search and Rescue) with rescue orange strap. The CSAR is hand assembled in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland.

The CSAR is sitting on a classic stereo receiver that was also hand assembled in Binghamton, NY, USA by the McIntosh Laboratory. The Mac 1500 was their first receiver and is a hybrid utilizing vacuum tube output and FM tuning coupled with a transistor pre-amplification.

The MAC 1500 is from 1966 and the CSAR chronograph is from 2023. Old and new classics!

Here is some important news. Marathon Watch Co. has advised Authorized retailers that there will be price increases starting on January 4, 2022.
"This is due to current rising costs of raw materials and logistics, we have steadily been incurring significant increases from our suppliers and have not been passing these increases to you.
With that being said, we can no longer absorb these increases and are forced to pass them along."
This is unfortunate but necessary. It is still over a month away. I recommend that if there is a model and/or accessory that you are interested in adding to your personal collection and you'd like to save a substantial amount, please contact us so that we can help get you the watch you want. Historically significant Chronometer watch (as displayed at Chelsea clock exhibit, NAWCC National, Hampton, VA, 2021)....
Hamilton model 22 Chronometer Watch (CW). The model 22 was designed and built to meet the needs of the U.S. Navy in W.W. II. It is a 35 size, 21 jewel lever escapement chronometer that utilizes many of the timekeeping refinements that made Hamilton's Railroad watches superior timekeepers. This example is the pocket watch version and is housed in a 5 part base metal case, padded wood interior case and outer wood carrying case. The model 22 is considered by many horologists to be the finest mass produced lever escapement timepiece ever produced. Hamilton engineers solved many problems that had plagued watchmakers for years such as middle temperature error and produced a portable chronometer watch that was quite simply extraordinary and on a par with detent escapement full size marine chronometers.
This chronometer watch is grouped with the original paperwork, Naval Observatory issue card and timing record, showing it was issued in 1945 to the USS Talladega (APA/LPA-208) which was an attack transport nicknamed, "The Tremblin' T". Four Marines pictured in Joe Rosenthal's famous flag-raising photograph debarked from Talladega to climb Mount Suribachi on Iwo Jima. Talladega also participated in the Okinawa campaign and was the first of the 31 Ship Convoy with occupation troops to dock at Yokohama on VJ Day, 2 September 1945.
