oldsmiths’ quarter of Florence, where Carolina can sit side by side with craftsmen to work out how each new design can be realised. This simple, direct relationship between creative and creation is at the very heart of what Carolina Bucci stands for. The tradition of excellence in fine jewellery manufacturing innate to the workshops is what allows Carolina to design contemporary, intricate and unusual pieces that have a distinct point of difference from traditional fine jewellery. The first collection from Carolina Bucci, Woven, was created using a centuries-old loom originally designed to weave textiles, but adapted to weave gold and silk threads. The contemporary vision of Carolina as a designer, and the generations of knowledge at hand in florence, has allowed traditional techniques to evolve and so enrich the carolina bucci design aesthetic. Carolina's personal stories – her memories, her experiences, are intertwined with each of her designs. Jewellery is always admired, but what makes a piece priceless and precious on a personal level are the stories. The Carolina Bucci bespoke service allows clients to create a piece or suite of jewellery that is completely unique in spirit. Whatever the story behind a commission, the designers and craftsmen will apply the finest techniques and materials to bring it to life. Bespoke is not about minor alterations to existing designs but a personal experience for each client that begins with an idea, and ends with a physical realisation of their story.

A small tribute to a brilliant woman.
I was lucky enough to meet and work with Joan Burstein just when I was starting my brand. I showed up at her store, Browns, aged 25 and with a bag full of jewellery and no appointment, hoping to meet someone who might be able to get me a meeting with a buyer. Instead I met Mrs B herself, standing near the door with a smile. She was already a legend. And had been for decades. But she had zero pretentiousness and at the same time a terrifyingly clear confidence in her own taste. She chose three pieces and said that she would try them in the window. When they sold the next week she called me herself to congratulate me and to place a larger order. Over the coming years I valued her opinion on my designs just about as much as anyone’s. And I came to realise how rare it was to meet someone with such singular taste and such exquisite manners.
Browns was one of those stores where you just felt the curation all around you. Real “buyers” are few and far between. Joan Burstein was the best I ever met. RIP 🩵

Not all baby boys are made the same.
Here’s my first one who is slightly different (and 20 years old today). He’s on the left of my two bambini/family necklaces. We make each one bespoke and my ones come with me everywhere I go.
Especially now that soon both boys will be studying on the other side of the world. But the jewellery keeps them close to my 🩵 always.

Inspired by all your wishes last new year when we asked which Lucky bracelet you chose for a friend and why… our latest Lucky bracelet is the “Grazie” bracelet. It features a circle charm that is the international symbol for gratitude.

Hard stone magic at the Opificio delle Pietre Dure, Hand embroidery at Loretta Caponi and, of course, we ended with a Florentine finish in our workshops in and around the Ponte Vecchio

True handmade is difficult and time-consuming but it should always be enjoyed in a relaxed spirit of fun. That is sprezzatura 💙
