The Jaguar is simply the best rendition of any Fender offset ever produced. It’s the first model I ever encountered (and I’ve encountered A LOT!) that doesn’t need any sort of mods or upgrades. Just a good setup (even though it was pretty good right out of the box). Most models, you immediately want to change the bridge and install neck shim for playability and stability. Maybe replace the vibrato and pickups to your liking, but no need here.
In fact, I often try to find the vibrato unit from this model and outfit them into the several Jazzmasters I’ve built. That vibrato unit and bridge are basically Staytrem spec, so you are good to go! The pickups are solid and I realy enjoy the 4th position with both pickups in series as if it were one humbuckers really spread apart. Still sounds like a single coil though, just a bit fuller with more output.
About 4-5 years ago I purchased a used one in Olympic white from the first batch that were shipped with the wrong size bridge. The guitar was heavy and the neck was too chunky for me at the time. I didn’t connect with it and eventually sold it. I am definitely connecting with this one in Metallic Kandy Orange and it has exceeded my expectations. Thank you at Fender as always.
