Another birthstone for June is moonstone. Named for its uncanny resemblance to the iridescent sheen of the moon, it is actually a form of feldspar found in a variety of colors with a transparent to translucent clarity. They are traditionally cut as cabochons to give the desired mysterious play of light and shadow.

Come join the fun in this Friday evening! Orleans is kicking off the summer with the first of the First Fridays on June 5th. Businesses will stay open late (until 8pm) there’s live music, and lots of community.

Check us and our neighbors out in Lowell Square at 85 Rt 6a! wildwatercollective will be hosting live music, Sunbird Cape Cod will have great food, and here at Designs By S&R we’ll have lots of fun, sparkly jewelry to check out.

June's birthstone is the elegant pearl. Pearls are created by seashell animals like oysters, mussels, conches or clams. Formed just like their shells are, pearls are made up of layers of calcium carbonate deposits. Pearls come in many shapes and colors aside from just the traditional white sphere.
