Years and years ago my friend and I stumbled into a teeny, tiny shop in NYC that sold all kinds of buttons. The owner told us they made historical recreations and often supplied detailed buttons to costume designers on Broadway and such. So of course, I bought a ridiculous number of buttons I didn't need. Every so often I unearth another hoarded beauty like this one and repurpose it into a pendant.

This necklace was made with a vintage brass finding topped with a gorgeous vintage Czech glass dragonfly button. You can find it over at Hive Market & Gallery, Inc. along with a few other repurposed goodies!

Back in the day people were very clever in making jewelry that was multipurposed - this vintage piece for example used to house solid perfume (though it's since been cleaned out).
