Years ago, I met this incredible girl at one of my markets.

She would stop by my booth often. She was quiet and a little shy. We’d chat for a few minutes, and then I’d see her again the following week.

Little by little, I got to know her.

About a year later, she became part of Born to Rock. Some of you may even remember seeing her helping me at the markets.

And thanks to her, I met her mom too. Just one of those beautiful families you feel lucky to know. ❤️

Over the last couple of years, I’ve watched her grow. She’s an amazing swimmer and surfer, and eventually became a San Diego lifeguard.

I missed having her at Born to Rock, but I was so proud to see her finding her own path and becoming the amazing young woman she is today.

Yesterday, she came to visit me. This time, to say goodbye.

She’ll be back, but she’s leaving for a while for another big adventure.

Hearing her tell me how grateful she was for the opportunity I gave her and the doors that opened along the way made my heart so full.

I thought I was simply giving a sweet girl an opportunity to work when she needed it. I didn’t realize I’d also get the chance to watch her grow and become a little part of her story.

I couldn’t be prouder of you. I can’t wait to see where this next adventure takes you. ❤️
