Every so often, a watch appears that perfectly illustrates why François-Paul Journe’s work remains among the most respected in modern horology. This F.P. Journe Chronomètre Souverain Holland & Holland, created in collaboration with the legendary British gunmaker, blends classical chronometry with a rare aesthetic signature tied to one of the most historic sporting houses in the world.

The watch retains the purity of the Chronomètre Souverain: a manually wound caliber in 18k rose gold, engineered for exceptional precision through its twin-barrel architecture and direct power delivery. Yet what truly distinguishes this edition is its identity. Produced in extremely small numbers and reserved for Holland & Holland clients, the dial and engraving details subtly reflect the partnership, making it one of the most discreetly exclusive versions of the model.

This particular example was privately placed with one of our members and never reached the open market. Pieces like this rarely do and if they do, you're overpaying a greedy "dealer" to outbid the next buyer. When collaborations intersect with independent watchmaking at this level, most transactions occur quietly between collectors long before the broader market becomes aware.

For collectors seeking watches that seldom appear publicly, opportunities like this are exactly why many choose to work closely with our network.

One of the rarest Lange 1 variants in existence.
This is no ordinary Lange 1, it’s the classic Ref. 101.032 in 18k rose gold, reinterpreted with striking blue hands that transform its iconic dial into something truly extraordinary. What makes this piece exceptional isn’t just the craft, but its scarcity, one of very few known examples with this bespoke touch.

With its beautifully balanced 38.5 mm rose gold case and signature asymmetric layout featuring the oversized date and power-reserve indicator, the Lange 1 has stood as the pinnacle of German haute horlogerie since its 1990s debut. The addition of blue hands adds a bold, collector-worthy contrast against the argenté dial, a subtle yet unforgettable twist on a legendary design.

Whether you’re drawn to its heritage, its elegant proportions, or their rare blue accents, this Lange 1 isn’t just a watch. It’s a conversation piece and something you won't come across every day.

Every once in a while, a watch crosses our desk that quietly reminds us why independent horology sits at the very top of the craft. This Voutilainen 28E, cased in lightweight titanium at 39mm, pairs Kari’s hand-built, dual-wheel direct-impulse movement with a completely bespoke grand feu enamel jade dial. A true one-of-one.

Privately placed with one of our members, this piece never reached the open market. That’s often the reality with watches at this level, especially when waitlists are well beyond a decade, and enamel commissions are even rarer today.

If you’re a collector searching for watches that rarely, if ever, surface publicly, our members get access to opportunities like this before they’re seen anywhere else.

Discretion. Proper sourcing. Serious horology.

The Classic Micro-Rotor LCF006.AC.LG1.1 from Laurent Ferrier stands out on several technical fronts. The 40 mm stainless-steel case houses the automatic calibre FBN229.01, a micro-rotor movement with a natural escapement and a 72-hour power reserve.

What sets this edition apart is the lapis-lazuli dial, each piece unique through the natural stone’s grain and the total production run of just ten pieces.

From a mechanical viewpoint, the micro-rotor architecture allows for a thinner automatic movement without compromising energy efficiency. The natural escapement, silicon components, and finishing—hand bevels, fine anglage—reflect Laurent Ferrier’s commitment to movement integrity rather than mere design flash. The brand’s choice of a rich semi-precious stone dial further elevates this watch beyond standard variants, creating a subtle visual richness without distracting from the technical core.

For the collector who places equal value on movement innovation and rarity, this reference offers both in one attractive package. It needs no bold gestures because the strength lies in its quiet ex*****on and depth of detail.

The Chronomètre Holland & Holland is a collaboration between F.P. Journe and the legendary British gun-maker Holland & Holland. The result: a 39 mm stainless-steel case, just 8.6 mm thick, housing a manually wound Calibre 1304 in 18K rose gold.

What truly distinguishes it is the dial: made from antique Holland & Holland shotgun barrels (Barrel No. 1382 dating to 1868, and 7183 from 1882) that were re-worked, rolled, browned and finished into unique Damascus-steel patterns.
Every dial carries its individual pattern, meaning no two watches are identical.

Mechanically the calibre features twin parallel mainspring barrels, roughly 56 hours of power reserve, a free-sprung balance and thorough finishing equivalent to Journe’s high standards.

This piece doesn’t shout its rarity, it quietly embeds story, craftsmanship and historical material into a refined package. For the horologist who values the intersection of distinct heritage and independent manufacture, this is a standout.

Featured here, the F.P. Journe Chronographe Monopoussoir Rattrapante presents a compelling study in independent watchmaking for the modern collector. At 44 mm in diameter yet just 12 mm thick, the case design cleverly masks its size with an absence of traditional lugs and a narrow case band, allowing a surprisingly balanced wrist presence.

Inside works the calibre 1518, a hand-wound monopusher split-seconds chronograph with a big-date function and an 80-hour power reserve. What stands out is the movement architecture: a 33.6 mm diameter, 6.8 mm height movement that is thin for its complexity and designed for performance.
The choice of materials varies by version — for example, the titanium is paired with an aluminium movement plate for lightness, whereas the gold versions have red-gold bridges.

The aesthetic treatment of the watch is purposeful rather than flashy. While some design elements (like the rubber-filled hollow bracelet links and side inserts) hint at sport-watch utility, the finish remains clearly haute horlogerie. The dial is well-executed, with excellent legibility, though the tachymeter ring’s layout feels a bit compressed.

From a collector’s viewpoint the Chronographe Monopoussoir Rattrapante is one of the rare watches where technical substance and wearability converge in the independent-maker segment. It isn’t about overt trends or hype, it’s about mechanical clarity, movement architecture, and design choices that signal intention.

The Patek Philippe Aquanaut 5167A-012 “Singapore Edition” was introduced in 2019 to mark the brand’s Grand Exhibition in Singapore. Limited to 500 pieces, it features a 40 mm stainless steel case, black embossed dial, and distinctive red accents on the minute track, seconds hand, and tropical strap, an intentional reference to Singapore’s national color.

Inside is the automatic Calibre 324 S C, visible through the sapphire caseback, operating at 28,800 vph with a 35–45 hour power reserve. The movement remains one of Patek’s most refined for time-only models, with clean finishing and efficient performance.

While technically identical to the standard 5167A, this edition stands apart through its restrained but purposeful color scheme and event-specific release. It represents one of the few modern Aquanaut variations tied directly to a regional exhibition, giving it historical relevance within the line’s evolution.

At The Second Hand Club, we recognize the 5167A-012 as a noteworthy reference for collectors who value limited production runs tied to documented milestones in Patek Philippe’s recent history.
