🌊 Shell Island Treasure Hunting… WHAT A DAY!! 🐚

Oh my goodness, I was in seashell heaven today!!

Spent the day exploring Shell Island, and I absolutely SCORED on shells left behind from Hurricane Isaias! I could hardly believe my eyes with all the treasures scattered along the shore!

SCOTCH BONNETS!! 🐚I was completely blown away by how many I found! These are some of my favorite shells, and finding so many was beyond exciting!

And the treasures just kept coming! Beautiful lightning whelks, shark eyes, fascinating fossils, and those amazing barnacles that I just love! I even stumbled upon a HUGE Florida horse conch, Florida’s official state shell! What an incredible find! It’s beautifully weathered, and I was so excited to add this giant treasure to my collection!

But the magic didn’t stop with the shells. There were beautiful LIVE starfish everywhere! 🌊 Seeing them scattered across the sandy bottom was such an incredible sight!

I was like a kid in a candy store, only my candy was SEASHELLS! 😂Every few steps brought another discovery, and I didn’t want the day to end!

Days like today remind me why I love living near the Gulf so much. The beauty of nature, the thrill of finding something special, and the simple joy of having my toes in the sand.

Now comes the fun part… cleaning, sorting, and admiring every single treasure!

What a wonderful day catching up with my longtime friend Susan!

Susan and I met years ago at the Bead Gallery, and our friendship has continued through the years. She is visiting from Georgia and made plans to stop by my studio today to pick up a previous order in person.

I absolutely loved having the opportunity to show her around my studio and spend some time catching up on life. 🥰

And of course, she couldn’t leave without adopting these three adorable Halloween Lampwork minis! 🎃👻

Introducing “Tidal Romance”, my newest handcrafted Lampwork necklace featuring a beautiful puffy wave heart! Sculpted in the flame, dreamy shades of blue, translucent turquoise, and creamy white come together to capture the movement of a curling ocean wave. FLOUNDERING AROUND! 🐠

Some fish are just too colorful to blend in… and this little guy definitely has a personality all his own!

Meet my newest one-of-a-kind Lampwork necklace and earring set! Just look at that face! Those expressive eyes, pouty little lips, and whimsical sculpted details make him impossible not to love!

🔥 The magic is in the glass!

I sculpted this little flounder by hand in my studio using molten glass and a special glass frit called raku. As the glass reacts in the flame, an incredible mix of earthy browns, golden ambers, blues, greens, and hints of purple emerges. The results are beautifully unpredictable, making this colorful little character truly one of a kind!

To complement his personality, I designed an 18” necklace, individually hand-knotting beautiful earth-toned Jasper gemstone beads and freshwater pearls using macramé techniques with jewelry cord. Antique brass findings add the perfect warm, vintage-inspired touch.

And of course, he needed matching earrings! I created the coordinating Lampwork beads using the same beautiful raku glass frit, finished with freshwater pearls and secure antique brass lever backs. Prefer French hooks? I’ll happily change them upon request!

Kiss Me, I’m Fabulous! 💋🐟

Talk about personality! This one-of-a-kind Lampwork fish is full of color, character and just the right amount of sass. From those puckered teal lips and big expressive eye to the layers of teal, lime green, purple and translucent glass, there’s something fun to discover from every angle.

I created the necklace specifically to complement the colors in the fish, using rich amethyst paired with vibrant green gemstone rondelles and two teal gemstone accents. The entire necklace is hand-knotted on coordinating purple jewelry cord, allowing touches of purple to peek between the green stones and tie the whole design together.

Sterling silver accents add just the right amount of shine, and the necklace is finished with an adjustable sterling silver extender, an amethyst dangle and my signature seahorse charm.

A little piece of the reef, captured in glass. 🩵🐠

This one-of-a-kind necklace features a hand-sculpted Lampwork fish filled with beautiful layers of ocean blue, aqua and translucent glass, accented with striking black details.

I finished the fish with sterling silver and paired it with glossy 4mm black onyx beads, individually hand-knotted on jewelry cord. The deep black onyx creates such a beautiful contrast against the vibrant blues of the fish and really allows the Lampwork to take center stage.

Below the fish, a playful knotted dangle of blue Czech glass and black onyx adds movement while pulling the colors of the entire design together.

The necklace is finished with sterling silver, an adjustable extender and my signature seahorse charm, accompanied by another little pop of blue Czech glass.

Another Backyard Treasure!

Our latest backyard find is this beautiful old amber Carter’s ink bottle.
I absolutely LOVE finding things like this. Who owned it? What was it used to write? How did it end up buried in our backyard?So many little stories are tucked away in these old pieces of glass.
Another treasure cleaned up and added to our collection. Who knows what we’ll find next!
