This one took a while in the making. From creating and tweaking the design to get it right, and then to the finished product was about 12 weeks. Sometimes if just takes more time than others to get it right. And I love that my customers give me the space to not rush a piece just to get it done, and instead allow me the time to create something we’re both proud of. Cast in the customer’s 18k yellow gold using their diamonds from a few other pieces combined to make this unique 1 of 1 wedding set.

Been a week ya’ll. My CAD computer crashed Sunday evening and it’s taken all week to get it back online but WE’RE BACK! I’ve ran one batch of models on the 3D printer and have another printing now. That computer put me behind by three or four days. Anywho, I cast a couple this morning and finished this mother’s ring out today. Got a video of the other I cast and finished but ya’ll gonna hafta wait a week or so to get to see that one.

Sometimes restoration isn’t what a particular piece needs. Sometimes it just needs to be cleaned and brightened up a bit because the wear tells a story. This ring belonged to my customer’s grandfather in Natchitoches, LA and was lost decades ago. Many decades. The engraving on the top is from 1935. Back then the streets were all dirt and over the years had become paved. A fella with a metal detector was scanning the dirt piles and tailings from where they graded the roads to pave them and found this ring. He didn’t know the owner nor his descendants but through the power of social media found my customer and her mother who were the daughter and grand daughter of the rings owner and gave the ring to them. Said it was the first time he ever found an owner or a descendant of to be able to give any finds to it’s rightful ownership. Here in the pics were when he found it in the dirt and after I did some mild cleaning to it. The wear tells a tale that I couldn’t bear to erase by trying to make it look new again.

This is something we should talk about more often. Custom design gets the attention but repairing and maintenance needs part of the spotlight too. This ring came in this morning and I have not cleaned it yet. Notice the tips that hold the diamond in? There should be six here but two are completely gone and the remaining four are paper thin. Diamond loss was imminent on this ring. So, I’m ordering a new 14k white gold six prong head, will remove the old one and solder in the new, and reset the customers diamond. She’s worn the ring for around 25 years and with a new head she’ll get another 25 out of it. Replacing that diamond would have been painful; glad she got it to me in time. If you’re in question on the health of yours, then it’s way past time to set an appointment for me to take a look at it.

Custom 14k gold diamond pendant to match a ring I made a few weeks back. This was designed so it could be worn in either “portrait” or “landscape”. The owner and I agreed that portrait is best if worn on a long chain and landscape if worn on a short one. Which do you prefer?
