Laura Ashley's Curious Creations I love to create interesting and wearable jewelry and interesting sculptures. I always enjoy trying new art forms as well.

My favorite art mediums are glass fusing, polymer clay sculpting, paper quilling and sewing.

✨ Every detail has a purpose. Every element is part of the design. ✨

This little creature started with kiln-fired dichroic glass, but bringing it to life meant so much more than sculpting a bug around a beautiful piece of glass. 🪲

From embedding wire into the legs and antennae, to adding shimmering pigments and Austrian crystals to the sculpted wings, every detail was carefully considered. Then came the custom beaded chain, individually strung with Miyuki Delicas and crystals on FireLine thread, followed by matching hand-beaded earrings to bring the entire color palette together.

The goal wasn’t simply to make a bug pendant. It was to create a cohesive piece of wearable art where the shifting green glass, sculptural details, metallic shimmer, and intricate beadwork all work together.

This is the part of handmade art I love most: taking an unexpected combination of materials and turning it into something entirely my own.

Just started making this new faux leather seahorse in these gorgeous coastal colors. 🌊✨Hopefully the hand stitching goes well and it turns out beautifully 😁

So… this whole thing actually started because I found these amazing bug tights that I wanted. And obviously, I couldn’t just wear regular jewelry with them, so I decided I needed to make my own bugs to match.

I sculpted the bugs from Cosclay for durability and am already planning on creating more bugs like these, each with their own dichroic glass surprise.

Just making some cool little bugs… nothing unusual here. 👀🪲
Except there might be a little surprise hiding under those wings.
To be continued…

Inspired by one of our area’s endangered little residents, the Perdido Key beach mouse! 🐭🐚

I thought it would be cute if this tiny guy traded his usual beach snacks for a luxurious oyster dinner just like a fancy local restaurant. Naturally, he needed a tiny fork, a fancy napkin, and a little ch*****ne to complete the experience. 🥂

Hand-sculpted in Cosclay and nestled in a real oyster shell, this little gentleman is living his best coastal life.

A little local wildlife, a little luxury, and a whole lot of personality. ✨

🐙✨ This one was a labor of love.

I wanted to create an octopus necklace that was designed differently from the typical octopus pendant, so I sculpted this one from the ground up with Cosclay and made the te****les part of the actual necklace design.

Every te****le, detail, shell, painted element, and piece of Miyuki Delica and crystal beadwork was done by hand.

This is officially the most complicated and labor-intensive piece of jewelry I’ve made so far—and I’m pretty damn proud of it. 🐙🌊✨

From the oven… to a whole underwater world. 🐚✨

This one was SO much fun to make. I started with a vintage nautilus shell and somehow ended up creating a tiny little sea creature and his underwater world around it.

Real shells, mother-of-pearl, hand-sculpted Cosclay details, tiny bubbles, and a little crab friend included.

One of my favorite pieces I’ve made so far. 🥹

Something strange is taking shape…

I started with a nautilus shell and decided it needed a little more personality. Now I’m turning it into a tiny underwater fantasy world, one strange little detail at a time.

Still very much a work in progress, but I’m loving where this is going.

A lot of cutting, stitching, shaping and tiny details went into this one. I love watching these creatures slowly come together during the making process. 🪡🌊🪸

A tiny pumpkin patch… with one tiny secret hiding inside. 🎃🐭🍂
Sculpted completely by hand and turned into a one-of-a-kind autumn necklace. Because apparently I needed to make pumpkins this tiny. 😂
