As some of you may know my partner Mae was a metalsmith for 25 years and taught me the craft herself. One of her favorite things to make, and one of her best selling items, was the fire keeper. Her favorite fire keeper was the first one she made, her own. This fire keeper was unfortunately lost for several years and was just reclaimed in the depths of her car seat. When we found it, it was in bad shape, and I couldn’t wait to clean it up for her. Although this fire keeper has seen many years of wear and tear, and opened many a beer bottle, I love the way it cleaned up. I’m also feeling very inspired to make some more.
