Chapter III: The Forest’s Answer 🌙

Beyond the gate, a green crescent hung low over a clearing.

At its center stood a tree with copper-brown leaves. Between its roots lay a small pool, bright with shades of green she thought the autumn had already taken.

She knelt beside it.

There was the moss from a fallen wall. The green of leaves before they turned. The deep color of fir branches after rain.

“So this is where you keep them,” she whispered.

A leaf landed on the water.

Where it touched, a blue light flickered beneath the surface.

The violet lights led her to a gate almost hidden beneath the ivy.

Its pale branches curved into loops and spirals, holding Amethyst purple drops that shone like the last color in an evening sky.

There was no handle. Only a small inscription:

“Tell me something you still wonder.”

She felt rather foolish speaking to a gate.

“Where do the colors go when the forest sleeps?”

For a moment, nothing happened.

Then the vines slowly uncurled, and the gate opened just wide enough to let her through.

By the time she reached the last house in the village, candles were glowing inside carved pumpkins and woodsmoke drifted through the cold evening air.

She was about to turn home when she noticed two violet lights beneath the trees.

Tiny Amethyst lanterns hung from a low branch, each tucked into an ornate sterling silver frames. Beneath them lay a folded note.

“If you wish to see where October keeps its magic, follow before the last leaf falls.”

One lantern swayed.

There was no wind.

She stepped off the road.

Deep beneath the Violet Kingdom, a gentle dragon guarded one final treasure—a jewel swirling with turquoise skies, purple fire, and threads of gold.

The dragon had protected it for centuries, waiting for someone who understood that the rarest treasures are not meant to be hidden. They are meant to be carried into the world and allowed to shine.

This vivid Mohave turquoise stone is wrapped by hand in warm copper. I created it here in Germany as the final treasure in Das Violette Märchen: The Violet Fairy Tale Collection. 🐉✨
