This recent 28-gauge Krieghoff K-20 was engraved in my rendition of American Royal Scroll, a style that emphasizes bold flow, depth, balance, and elegance while remaining true to the sporting purpose of the gun.

The receiver was finished in satin nickel plating, creating a subtle contrast that allows the scrollwork to stand on its own without distraction. The unique finish gives the sportsman an all weather sporting gun suitable for the range or the woods and fields chasing upland game.

Every surface was carefully considered to maintain continuity of design from the action body to the top lever and trigger guard.

The Krieghoff K-20 has long been regarded as one of the finest sub-gauge sporting shotguns available, and it was a pleasure to transform this example into a uniquely personal firearm while preserving the clean, functional lines that make the platform so respected.

I don’t normally make grips, but every now and then a project comes along that’s too interesting to pass up.

The client who commissioned this first-generation C**t asked if I would also make the grips to accompany the engraving work. He supplied beautiful pieces of rough shaped French walnut panels, which I crafted into a set of one-piece grips to complement the revolver’s classic lines and period character.

The walnut was finished with Timberluxe oil finish, bringing out the depth, contrast, and natural beauty of the wood while providing a durable, hand-rubbed appearance.

It’s always rewarding when multiple disciplines come together in a single project. From the engraving to the custom grip work, the goal was to create a seamless presentation worthy of this historic C**t.

A Turn-of-the-Century Innovator, Restored

When this Lefever side-by-side was originally manufactured, it was truly ahead of its time. Renowned for innovative engineering and exceptional design, Lefever fi****ms set a standard that many competitors would spend years trying to match.

This fine ejector-model Lefever has now been brought back to life through the combined efforts of a talented team of craftsmen:

• Brian Dudley performed a remarkable restoration of the wood, bringing out the beauty and character hidden within the stock and forend.
• Matthew Begley of Black Diamond Gunworks expertly handled the case coloring and final reassembly, restoring the gun’s mechanical and visual elegance.
• Bertram Edmonston completed the engraving of the action and barrel, adding period-inspired embellishment worthy of this classic American double.

Projects like this are a reminder that great fi****ms are more than tools—they are a blend of engineering, artistry, and history. It has been an honor to play a role in preserving and enhancing this exceptional Lefever for future generations to appreciate.

A classic reimagined in steel and shadow.

This Browning Superposed has been transformed with deep relief scroll engraving, cut to create true depth, movement, and contrast across every surface. The scrollwork plays with light in a way flat engraving simply can’t—each curve catching highlights while the recessed backgrounds fall into shadow.

Finished in a soft satin nickel plating, the piece takes on a refined, almost architectural presence—subtle, elegant, and built to endure. The finish complements the engraving rather than competing with it, allowing the depth and detail to speak clearly.

This is more than ornamentation—it’s a study in form, balance, and permanence. A working gun elevated into a bespoke heirloom.

Beginning work on a new C**t commission with a fully “screwless” right-side presentation—designed to provide an uninterrupted field for a dynamic, high-detail scene.

The three frame screws were discreetly timed on the left side, while the right panel was refined using welded Dutchmen for complete visual continuity. Edges that had been softened over time were reconstructed via laser welding and meticulously blended, restoring sharp definition and creating a pristine surface ready to receive engraving.

A recent Beretta restoration and upgrade. This shotgun had been damaged by significant rusting. The rust and pitting were addressed. Then all of the scroll was recut to deep relief style. The game scenes were refreshed with new detail and the birds replaced with 24k gold high relief inlays. The game scenes are selectively French grayed.
