You’d think after 133 years in business, we’d have gotten used to celebrating milestones. But this one caught us smiling a little bigger than usual.

Five generations of our family have been behind the counter at Zimmer Brothers, and after all these years, this community is still showing up for us. That’s something we don’t take lightly.

We’ve watched families grow, celebrated engagements and anniversaries, helped people find new life for jewelry that’s been passed down, and welcomed generations of customers through our doors. Some of those relationships go back decades.

And they’re the reason we’re still here.

Even on vacation, apparently our social media manager can’t stay away from gemstones!

This summer, she visited the historic Barton Garnet Mine at Gore Mountain in the Adirondacks, where visitors can actually hunt for garnets.

And here’s a fun bit of New York trivia: Garnet is our official state gemstone! Some of the largest garnet crystals ever discovered have been found right here in the Adirondacks.

Pretty incredible to think about what might be hiding beneath our feet, isn’t it?

Being the fifth generation of Zimmer Brothers means Jocelyn has quite a few responsibilities.

There are two stores to oversee, wonderful teams to lead, customers to get to know, and a family business that’s been part of the Hudson Valley since 1893.

And somewhere in between all of that, she still manages to find time to try on her favorite pieces.

Can you blame her?!

There’s a lot that goes into carrying on a family business that’s been around for five generations, and Jocelyn takes that responsibility to heart. Especially when she gets to work alongside her dad, Michael, and continue what their family started all those years ago.

Although we suspect trying on the jewelry will always be one of her favorite parts of the job.

Well, well, well. Look who’s back in fashion. PEARLS!

They’ve been making appearances on the runways featured in Vogue lately. But we’ve been selling pearls here in Poughkeepsie for generations!

Now they’re being layered with gold chains, paired with jeans, and worn in all kinds of fun new ways.

A little something to ward off the evil spirits this October?

We’ve always loved the symbolism behind the evil eye. It’s been worn for centuries as a symbol of protection against bad luck and negative energy. And with Halloween around the corner, we thought this was a particularly fun piece to share.
