Sweet Cedar Studios After a career as a school administrator, Barbara now loves pursuing her lifelong passion for creating art. What or who is Sweet Cedar? I miss her very much.

She sells her work at art and craft events in central Arizona and at boutiques in Prescott, Sedona, Cottonwood, and Henderson. She was one of the two adorable Black Labs I lived with. She was always at my feet when I was creating jewelry. After 15 years of being by my side, she earned her wings in August, 2020. A little more about me and why I create art. It really is a simple, but somewhat selfish reason. It makes me feel good. I feel a tremendous sense of accomplishment when I am inspired by something, develop an idea and then am able turn it into something concrete and tangible. I also enjoy the smiles my work brings to visitors of my booth at an art, dog or horse show. Sometimes I may be just going about my day and as I turn a corner, I see a bird, bug, sparkle on wet leaves, or dogs playing in the park. It may hold my attention for a few moments and make me smile. I also seem to need the approval of others and enjoy positive feedback for my work. A little constructive criticism is also welcome, in small doses! Clearly, I discover more about myself through my art. I appreciate the problem solving process and surprise myself with the solutions that seem to just pop into my head. All aspects of my life seem to benefit from the process of creating art and I am a happier, more peaceful person because of it.

✨ What an amazing day for Sweet Cedar Studios! ✨

Yesterday started with a trip to beautiful Sedona, where my wonderful client Victorian Cowgirl added a whopping 21 new Sweet Cedar hats to their collection! 🤠💕 A huge thank-you to Jessica for her continued enthusiasm and support of my work. Seeing that many of my hats heading into the shop at once was pretty darn exciting!

Then, on the way home, I decided to do a little exploring in Cottonwood. I rarely cold-call boutiques, but I happened to have a few hats left with me and thought, wouldn’t it be wonderful to have a Sweet Cedar retailer in Cottonwood?

Well... sometimes you just walk through a door and know. 😊

I discovered Spirit of Strength on Main Street in Cottonwood, and the minute I stepped inside, I knew my hats belonged there. The shop has the most wonderful Western-boho vibe, filled with beautiful, unique and inspirational treasures.

Karla Nicol and I immediately clicked, and before I knew it, seven Sweet Cedar hats had found a new home at Spirit of Strength! 🎉👒

So Sweet Cedar Studios now has another beautiful spot in the Verde Valley!
