Charles Otero operated a jewelry store at 303 Santa Fe Avenue but later moved to the Opera House Block at Fourth and Main Streets. Otero crafted fine jewelry, served as Pueblo's fire chief in 1880, and played the tuba in the nationally known Cowboy Band. Otero crafted a $5,000 miniature of the Mineral Palace for display at the Chicago World's Fair in 1893.
