Meet the MTNA Certification Chair for NCMTA, Diane Blanchard!

Have you ever wondered what the title “NCTM” means next to someone’s name? That is the professional credential, “Nationally Certified Teacher of Music” that you could earn!

Diane was the MTNA Southern Division National Certification Commissioner, and will bring her expertise to NCMTA to help teachers through the NCTM certification process.

“The NCTM credential is earned through the MTNA Professional Certification Program. This program exists to improve the level of professionalism within the field of music teaching. It provides prestige and recognition. Becoming certified shows an individual’s commitment to their profession, their colleagues and their students.”

*Join a virtual group for support and accountability!

*Win a scholarship to pay for your certification fees! Must attend the NCMTA Fall Conference at ECU on October 2-3 for eligibility.

MEET THE BOARD, ex-officio: Dr. Frank Pittman, NCTM

Dr. Pittman serves as the MTNA Southern Division Composition Competition Coordinator.

“I coordinate the adjudication of student composition winners across four age levels (elementary, junior, senior, and young artist). These winners advance from nine MTNA state competitions: Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia.”

Favorites: Chopin Ballade in F Minor (Solo), Brahms D Minor (Concerto), Prague (Favorite city to perform in).

Memorable Moment: My luggage arrived late when I performed in Dublin, Ireland. I performed the recital wearing black jeans, a t-shirt, and a black leather jacket!
