What a fabulous trip. London -> Glasgow -> Glencoe -> Bergen. All new for me except London. Hard to pick a favorite- j/k, it was all the pastries 🥐

The Scottish highlands were really incredible, and we had the best Indian food I’ve ever had there. Drove on the left, without any casualties. Found mountain trolls in Norway. And London of course has the best museums, thanks to centuries of global plundering. Not great, but I did enjoy seeing everything 🤷🏻‍♀️

Back to regular life now.. laundry, dogs, school for the boys. I am sadly currently chicken-free; rehomed our remaining two girls after yet another raccoon attack. I need a break from the constant death and feathers. We do have our new dog Odin though, and the bees seem to be fairing well. I’ll take the honey super off in the next few months and see how they ended doing this year.

Applying for holiday shows starts now-ish, and the Apple Hill festival is ongoing. My work is there thanks to the The Wild Grove Collective. I’ll be back in my studio this week teaching classes, getting to come custom casting orders, and making my own work. I’ve been really enjoying working in ceramics with The Clay Lounge recently, and will be continuing with that, and pulling it into my metal work.

Second round of ceramic pendants, learned a lot on the first try and I’m so happy with how these are turning out.

I make these same designs in silver using lost wax casting, but given how expensive metals have become, I’ve been exploring other materials. Ceramics works really similarly to wax, plus I can add color!

Still working out a few kinks, but I’m hoping to have some available for purchase soon at Little Green A Plant Bar and The Wild Grove Collective

Putting together some earrings for the Apple Hill® fall art festival. The The Wild Grove Collective is going to be there for all 10 weekends this August and November.

I’m using an xToolOfficial laser to add my logo to earring cards and boxes, and getting both sterling silver and gold filled earrings ready to go. These are all made with carved shells, which are so lightweight for their size.

Watch me drop wires repeatedly… I mean, solder some ear wires on 🤣

I had these freesia bud earrings finished with ear posts, but someone wanted them changed to French hooks. I clipped off the posts and drilled holes into the tops of the castings to create a little divot for the ear wires to have more surface area to solder to.

The flower buds were molded from my garden last year, and have really lovely textures that are highlighted with a little patina on the silver.

Really excited for some new fun- I joined to make some of my jewelry in ceramics. These are just a few test pieces, since I haven’t worked in clay in.. decades? lol

I’m not bailing on working in metal by any stretch, but having something new to chew on keeps my brain happy. Plus, with the ever rising costs of silver and gold, I’m looking forward to alternative ways to keep making jewelry that’s still affordable.

These still need to be bisque fired, and then glazed, so plenty of time for things to go wrong, but hopefully some go right!
