I'm back in the saddle, friends! If you're curious why I haven't posted in over 6 months, it's because it physically pained me to do so.
Halfway through my pregnancy last year I developed severe inflammation in both of my wrists, which led to Carpal Tunnel Syndrome and then De Quervain’s Tenosynovitis. FUN STUFF, let me tell you. The pain was pretty awful and I eventually couldn't use my hands for much beyond daily necessities- and even that brought me to tears sometimes! Of all the pregnancy challenges I had prepped for, losing the function of my hands was not one of them. 🫠
After trying all the treatments without success, my doctor recommended a double-wrist surgery, but my gut told me to hold off and let time do its thing. I’m glad I did because today I’m typing this email (something I couldn’t do just a few months ago) with about 90% use of my hands back! I’m manifesting continued improvement and full-on "jazz hands” by the end of the year! 🙌
While putting Awl Snap mostly on the back-burner for so long was tough, it also gave me a precious opportunity to spend time with my wonderful husband and my baby girl "Q". Zero regrets there.
And now that I’m back in action, I have dedicated studio time again! I’ll be spending the rest of 2024 doing more of what I love —bringing back your favorite designs, with some fun new ones in the works! Stayed tuned this week for some more updates....
