It’s Opal and Tourmaline Month! We’ve seen some opal misinformation on social media lately, and we want to make sure your opals stay in great shape. This opal has a white line of cracking called crazing. This is a kind of damage that opals are prone to because they have no structure and some water content. If they get extremely dry, they can crack. So store them where people are breathing, adding moisture to the air, not in a safe deposit box. And don’t soak them in oil! This does not protect them from crazing, and can turn opals yellow over time.

September is Sapphire month! But what do you get the sapphire lover who has everything? We recommend California’s beautifully blue state gem, a rare gemstone called Benitoite. It comes in bright blue and violet colors, has beautiful sparkle, and it’s only found in a tiny part of San Benito County. It’s a beautiful weekend in Riverside! Frolic! Take some inspiration from this new pendant we made. A gem artist carved butterfly wings from Watermelon Tourmaline and we designed this pendant so you can wear them. The chain will go through the antennae. These gems are natural Spinels we have in stock, and you’ll see a range of pink colors, deep blue, and gray. Spinel also comes in a bright flame red with a hint of orange and very, very rarely in a shockingly bright cobalt blue. It’s hard and scratch-resistant like Sapphires and Rubies, so Spinel is safe to wear in a ring every day.

It’s here! Our one sale a year is happening now, from August 18th through the 22nd. Since this is a clearance sale, we don’t discount jewelry we always keep in stock, like our Raincross Collection.

We love Peridot with its leafy green sparkle, but not everyone feels beautiful in green. That’s why we were so happy to learn that Spinel is another birthstone option for August. The Spinel in this sparkler is a soft pink, but you can also find Spinel in blue, red, violet, and gray. It has a similar hardness to tough gems like Ruby and Sapphire, so it’s great to wear in a ring. You know what else is great? This ring is going to be 50% off next week, going from $4,995 to $2,495!
