GO Fest wraps up today at Elmwood Park, new this year after moving over from River's Edge. Roanoke usually gets its first frost around Oct 22, the latest of our five towns, so that first properly cold morning is still just ahead. Might be time to dig the jacket out of the closet. Roanoke has gone by a few names over the years. Some folks still say Big Lick, the original name from the salt licks that drew game to the valley. Others say the Star City, with the Mill Mountain Star first lit on November 23, 1949. Two names, one town. Settle it for us.
