1 Timothy 3:13 KJV
“For they that have used the office of a deacon well purchase to themselves a good degree, and great boldness in the faith which is in Christ Jesus.”
Paul reminds us that God honors those who serve Him faithfully. Although this verse specifically addresses deacons, its principle applies to every believer. God is not only concerned with positions of leadership but with the faithfulness of those who carry out the work He has entrusted to them.
The phrase “used the office of a deacon well” speaks of serving with integrity, humility, and dedication. Faithful service is never wasted in God’s kingdom. While the world often measures success by recognition and status, God measures success by obedience and faithfulness.
Paul says those who serve well “purchase to themselves a good degree.” This does not mean they earn salvation, for salvation is by grace through faith. Rather, faithful servants gain respect, spiritual maturity, and a testimony that inspires others. Their consistent walk with Christ becomes a solid foundation for greater opportunities to serve.
He also says they gain “great boldness in the faith.” As believers experience God’s faithfulness through serving Him, their confidence in Christ grows. Obedience strengthens faith. Every act of faithful service becomes another reminder that God is trustworthy and worthy of complete devotion.
Whether your service is seen by many or noticed by only God, remain faithful. The Lord sees every sacrifice, every prayer, every act of kindness, and every moment of obedience. He rewards those who serve Him with sincere hearts.
Reflection
Am I serving God faithfully where He has placed me?
Is my service motivated by love for Christ or by the desire for recognition?
Have a blessed day in Jesus name.
