I’ve been wanting to do something like this for sometime where I bring one of So Niice loyal customers to the Sister League gala to learn and experience the love, warmth, impact and sisterhood this organization offers. I feel that the customers who have shown so much interest in their cause every time I post about them or have been moved by their story, especially during pop up events really deserve this moment.

This year, Sister League of San Diego has allowed me that opportunity to gift 2 free tickets to our biggest fundraising event of the year and so, I want to share this with one of you (and your guest)! Slowly easing to September, historically one of So Niice’s favorite months for a number of reasons: a crisp in the air starts to settle in, a golden glow usually highlights the days, and I celebrate another year around the sun at the end of the month. This September is a little different given recent circumstances, but there’s still things to be grateful for in this month of seasonal shifts. 💛

…of thuds jumping off the furniture, of scratches at the door, of ringing the bell to ask to go out, of being our house alarm clock and keeping us on schedule, of yapping for food, of running and yippjng in your sleep, of being a smoosher of pillows, of being my shadow, of photo bombing my ootds, of waiting patiently, of left side leaning tail wagging in excitement to see me, of happily greeting people at the door, of asking to come up for snuggles, of grumbles from being an ottoman, of being a vacuum, of “whaboodo?”, of being Mother Teresa under blankets, of high fives, of being an unwilling model, of being my coworker, of being the most reliable blobber, of being our scapegoat, of being our hilarious joy, of borrowing my eyeliner, of bang bang, of being a backyard explorer, of being a veggie and fruit lover, of being my first dog, of being one of my best friends and my first baby, and of giving nothing but unconditional love.

Goodnight sweet Bood. May you run free in your field of bananas. Please always come visit and say hi to Lala and Lolo for me. 🍌🐕 🐾🦋🫂🌈💗💛🥹✨

French for “skin”. Inspired by onion skins (as I collect them for France Malvar || Lu France Interiors to use in her silk dyeing process).

📖Story time 📖
Growing up I never liked onions. They did not smell or taste good to me, especially when served raw. Then as an adult I started understanding the beauty of their complexities. I learned of the saying “peeling an onion skin”. That really stuck with me and now it comes to mind whenever I’m trying to process situations and new people I meet.

Peeling the onion and finding the root cause helps you understand layer by layer what its exact complexities are and I don’t know about you, but I often end up in tears once I hit the core. Very metaphorical for if you really take the time to understand a situation or a person, their stories will truly move you (and if you’re an empath, you’ll probably also be brought to tears).

Anyway, I like onions now (mainly when cooked as they are immersed seamlessly into a dish, fully transformed and providing such a rich flavor…much like when you invite a new story into your life and allow it to influence you in the best way possible). I have to thank France for allowing me to really pause and appreciate the beauty of onion skins through all the collective I’ve done for her. 🧅💛✨
