I showed her earlier this year when I first made her, but I never really shared what she meant to me.

I created her in honor of the Year of the Snake. A year of shedding, painful growth, and learning to let go of things I never thought I'd have to. Last year was one of the hardest chapters of my life. Existential crisis mixed with other things was difficult. Most of that journey happened quietly, but so did the healing. I'm still healing.

This little serpent became a reminder that "shedding" isn't always about losing something. Sometimes, it's about making room for who you're becoming!

The little Gucci charm has its own story, too! It was leftover hardware from a bag Thomas Tha gave me. I remember telling you all to check out his work, and seeing him get the recognition he deserves now makes this little detail even more special.

So here she is. A piece about transformation, made with something that was given a second life, too.

Some people journal their way through life. I do, too, but sometimes I turn my feelings into jewelry. 😂

SHE'S NO LONGER AVAILABLE. Enroute her new mom, Carrie. May this little necklace remind her to embrace every season of life, even the difficult ones. May she remind that growth often requires shedding, and that beautiful things can come from letting go. 🤍

What is THE REVIVAL? One of Butones Jewelry's new core collections.

Some things are already beautiful just the way they are. Others? Well, I look at them and think, sometimes think extra hard, “Okay, but what ELSE can I turn you into?” 😂

That's pretty much how The Revival came to life. It's challenging but very rewarding.

Unlike Treasured Tokens, where I preserve the original beauty of designer elements, The Revival is all about TRANSFORMATION.

This is where I take authentic designer hardware like rivets, eyelets, hooks, broken parts, and other interesting little pieces and completely reimagine what they could become.

Sometimes I take things apart, reconstruct them, combine unexpected materials, or create entirely new components by hand.

And sometimes, I have absolutely NO idea what I'm making until I start playing around at my workbench. 😂

The goal? To make the DESIGN itself just as interesting as the designer element because to me, repurposing isn't just about giving something a new purpose. It's about seeing possibilities, experimenting, and creating something that didn't exist before.

Same history, new identity with more stories to tell!

Meet some of our ladies from Treasured Tokens, one of Butones Jewelry’s three new core collections.

This collection features designer buttons, charms and hardwares that are already beautiful as they are. The pretty details, the colors, the shape, their respective brand iconic logos, etc. All the things that made me want to turn them into a wearable piece in the first place.

I keep their original look and design around them. Sometimes with a simple chain, sometimes with pearls, beads, or other elements. Whatever brings out their beauty without covering up the reason I chose them.

So this collection can be simple, playful, or a little dressy. What ties everything together is that the designer piece and the design are all cohesive and elevates the entire look.

They were already pretty. I’m just helping them get out of the house more! 😉

Treasured Tokens is for those of you who love the original designer details, thoughtfully worked into handmade jewelry you can wear and make your own.

A little redesign for this beauty. Meet Scarlet Fortune.

Made with a rare red Chanel blazer button, she has a subtle CC logo which is exactly what I love about her. The red fabric and little shamrock get to be the focal, with the designer detail quietly on the bottom.

She’ll be part of Treasured Tokens: elements already beautiful on their own, thoughtfully given a new life as jewelry.

When I closed the website in April, I honestly didn’t know if I was taking a break or if I was done for good. I didn’t have a date for when I’d come back. I didn’t even know if I would come back.

I was still here, and I was still making jewelry sometimes. But only when I felt inspired. If an idea came to me, I’d sit down and make it. If nothing came, I didn’t force it. For a while, I just needed to let myself be that way.

I think the harder part to explain is that I was changing, too. I have been changing since last year. Butones has always been about creating something new from pieces that already have a story. I still appreciate the beauty and craftsmanship of those pieces aka designer brands, but I wasn’t feeling the same excitement I used to feel when I sat down with them and when that feeling changed, it became harder to know what I wanted to make.

That was confusing because I still loved creating. I needed to find what excited me again and how Butones could grow with me. There’s a thin line between holding on to something that’s run its course and giving up on something you still love. I knew I still loved Butones.

If you’ve ever loved something and then felt yourself changing, I think you’ll understand how confusing that can be. You can be grateful for what you’ve made and still need to ask yourself if it feels right for you now.

Over these past months, I kept coming back to my worktable whenever I had an idea I couldn’t leave alone. I made things because I wanted to make them. Little by little, I started to feel excited about Butones again.

And honestly, I don’t think I could be rebuilding this whole website right now if I still felt the way I did in April. 😂 This is a LOT of work. I have to really want to be here to put myself through all of this again.

I didn’t step away knowing I’d return. That’s why it means a lot to me to say that I’m here, and I’m looking forward on officially sharing my work again. Thank you to everyone who stayed, checked in, supported me through DM, or just gave me room to find my way. I really mean that. 🤎
