I have news! 💎
I’m officially a GIA Graduate Diamonds! ✨ GIA (Gemological Institute of America) Jinal Sampat 🌿
After almost 13 years in the fine jewelry industry, you might wonder… why did I decide to do this now?
My background in architecture has always influenced the way I approach jewelry. It taught me to think about how something looks, but also how it functions and ultimately, how design can solve a problem.
That’s a big part of how we approach Mangalsutras at Sampati 👉🏻creating pieces that honor tradition while actually working for the way women live today.
But diamonds are at the heart 💙 of what we do, too.
Diamond quality has always been one of Sampati’s core values. Diamonds represent so much beauty, craftsmanship, rarity, and, for many people, a significant investment. I wanted to understand the material at a much deeper level so I could make better decisions, ask better questions, and most importantly, guide you better when you’re choosing a diamond.
The world of buying and trading loose diamonds has traditionally been very male-dominated. I wanted to step further into that world, not just as a jewelry designer, but as a woman who understands diamonds from the inside out.
So, I went back to school 💎
I had the opportunity to learn diamond grading from some incredible instructors at GIA (Gemological Institute of America) spend countless hours studying diamonds, and make some wonderful new friends along the way, which is always a bonus. 😊
I’m incredibly proud of this little milestone, but I also see it as the beginning of something bigger.
Over the coming years, I want to share everything I’ve learned about diamonds with you from what those grades actually mean to the tiny details that can make one diamond look completely different from another.
Because buying a diamond shouldn’t feel intimidating. You should know exactly what you’re buying and why you love it.
Here’s to always being a student. 🥂
Xoxo,
Jinal Sampat
