Hi, My name is Misty. . . And I am disabled. in 2015 I was diagnosed as an Incomplete Quadriplegic due to severe damage to my cervical spinal cord. It changed my life drastically. It changed everything. I was mostly confined now to an electric wheelchair, my fine motor skills were a mess. I have Sjorgen's disease and Porphyria as well. And I thought I'd never be able to work again. Well as the story progresses I met my husband in our church in 2018. He was a caregiver for his mother Julie. Julie had epilepsy, but worse, Julie had a very rare, progressive and painful neurological disorder called Corticobasal degeneration. it's a disease characterized by cell loss and deterioration of specific areas of the brain. it has a mixture of Parkinson"s like symptoms and Dementia. She had also fought off bladder cancer 3 times over the last few years. My mother in law moved in with us in January of 2019. Her illness was worsening as was her pain and confusion. Her cancer returned and she had one last surgery and came back home with my husband and me. She was unable to care for herself in any fashion at this point. One day we were discussing an idea. That idea was to create a business that showcased that, despite great disability, we could not only still be useful, but we could bring beautiful things to the world. I still smile remembering the passion so long missing, return to her eyes as she paced back and forth throwing out ideas for the business. She wanted to participate. She was inspired in a way she hadn't been in years. My husband's mother, who in many ways had become my own, Passed this last September on the 14th of this year, in our home. We were grief-stricken. We had lost someone very special. While my mother in law had passed, through the pain and grief, I became more passionate about the idea we both shared. What if I could somehow make our mutual dream live? What if out of something horrible... .something beautiful could come. . . . Julie'z Jewels is the realization of that dream. Welcome. My name is Misty and I look forward to sharing our dream with you.
