One of the most common questions I get about this piercing is "Does it help with Headaches/Migraines?"
Short answer is no. Long answer is; There is no scientific data to cite about this piercing and supposed headache or migraine relief.
I've heard all sorts of anecdotal stuff from clients. Some have claimed it helps, others have noticed no change. I had a single case of someone claiming it made things worse, though to be fair their piercing was in very rough shape.
You should get a piercing because you like the look of it, not in hopes of some sort of miracle cure.
Oh also, its pronounced DOTH.

Maybe I could have moved the hair out of the way a bit more, but it doesn't obscure the piercing so it's fine.

Week 20 of 2026; Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu
After 2 years of training about 3x a week, I got my blue belt. It’s the first major belt milestone in the sport!
That means it’s officially time to put _BJJ in my instagram handle and start a podcast or something.
Shoutout to the coach and my training partners over at
Grappling is a ton of fun, if you’re interested you should stop by and check it out!
Photos taken from the gym’s instagram, cherry picked to show me in good positions, of course.
We just had Michael Pixley come teach a seminar at the gym about slide-bys and foot sweeps!

A new Dermal piercing from last week, placed over the cheekbone.
Dermal anchor and top from . As always, pierced using a 10g needle from . I never use dermal punches, they are awful for dermal piercings. (Punches do significantly more damage, can cause heavy bleeding, and makes the dermal sit loose due to all the damage you did using a punch.)
I don't know what's going on right now, but I've got 5 people with appointments for Dermal piercings this week. I usually only get to do one every few months, if I'm lucky.
Dermals are surface piercings, meaning they come with their own set of challenges when it comes to healing. They are prone to migration and rejection, and for Dermals specifically they will never stay permanently. I have seen a well done dermal piercing last anywhere from a few months to around 15-20 years. How long it will stay largely depends on how your body reacts to the piercing, along with the skill of the piercer.
If you're considering a Dermal, you have to be okay with the fact that eventually it will just be a scar. Hit up my Email, we can talk about it more if you're interested.
