Meet SSR Painted Feather 485P 🤍

Painted Feather is sired by our Red Angus herd sire, NIO Colorblind 4243, and out of one of our homegrown Ultrared females, SSR Laramie 137L.

Her genetics are top notch so we are extra excited to watch this young female continue to grow and develop and become a long time addition to our cattle operation. 🐂.

The SSR team has been hard at work cutting, raking, and baling hay until the late hours each evening and the fields are looking incredible. There’s nothing better than seeing the beautiful fields with fresh bales, and the rewards of long days in the field.

Grateful for good weather, hardworking hands, and another productive hay season at SSR Ranch. 🌾🚜

Welcome to SSR 259N!

One of our new Red Brangus bulls, OCF 259N, continues to bring the targeted 3/8’ths (Brahman), 5/8’ths (Red Angus) to our program. The Red Brangus combination brings heat tolerance, disease tolerance, adaptability and heterosis to our Red Angus seed stock cows.

Combined with an excellent fertility score, this OCF bull is slick hided and fleshy to produce low input, deep bodied females for our ranch improving uniformity in our crossbreeding program.

Welcome OCF 259N. Now we need help with a name. Pedigree is in the comments. Chief something?

Introducing “Boots”…..the very first SSR ranch goat! 🐐

Thanks to our Ranch Manager, Paul, and his family, Boots has officially joined the crew at Silver Spur Ranch—and he wasted no time making himself right at home.

This little guy has grown fast and turned into quite the character around here. Boots believes he is best friends with EVERYONE… but especially humans!

Here he is doing his latest job—babysitting one of our orphaned bull calves. After just one week together, these two have become absolute besties, and we’re pretty sure Boots thinks he’s part of the cattle crew now.

We have a feeling Boots is going to keep life interesting around SSR… stay tuned for more adventures from our newest (and most mischievous) ranch hand. 😄🐐

We are super excited to introduce our newest resident Red Angus herd sire, Mushrush Jocko M869, who has officially arrived and taken up residence here at Silver Spur Ranch.

Jocko didn’t just show up with good looks—he brought along an impressive pedigree, strong performance stats, and a personality that’s surprisingly friendly… for a bull.

We are beyond excited to introduce Jocko’s bloodline into our SSR genetics program and can’t wait to see the impact he makes in the pasture in the years ahead. 😎🐂
