A little spooky forest for October… 🌲🍂

When I came across this Picasso Jasper, I couldn’t help seeing a forest of bare branches stretching across a moody autumn sky.

Of course, I had to give those branches a way to escape the stone! Each silver branch was shaped by hand, reaching around the edges as though the forest were growing right out of it.

Meet October Woods, a one-of-a-kind pendant from my Forest Rejuvenation collection.

And something a little different for Two Gems — this one hangs from a simple black leather cord, keeping the focus on the stone and its woodland story.

Come walk through Salida, Colorado with me.

I dropped off a new group of Two Gems pieces at Sage Mountain Gallery just in time for Salida Art Walk Salida ArtWalk this weekend.

ArtWalk brings downtown Salida to life with gallery receptions, exhibits, demonstrations, live music, and events celebrating the local arts community.

For this gallery collection, I wanted the jewelry to tell four connected stories:

• Flowing forms inspired by water and movement
• Moonlight and quiet color
• Earth, texture, and stone
• Botanical shapes drawn from leaves, branches, and grasses

Different pieces, different materials, but all rooted in the same idea:

A piece of nature, always with you.

One small decision can change the whole piece.

These two custom rings actually begin in almost the same place: three strands of metal, shaped and fused or soldered together into an organic band.

But from there, they head in very different directions.

The mixed-metal Tidegrass ring keeps that flowing, layered look simple and earthy.

The gold Seabud ring was made as a custom variation, with tiny “buds” added to the design and a diamond set into the center.

Same starting point. Different choices. Completely different feeling.

That’s one of my favorite parts of custom work — taking an existing design idea and shifting the details until it feels personal to the person who will wear it.

Art show season is over… and this is what coming home actually looks like. 😅

Display pieces leaning everywhere. Bins waiting to be unpacked. Booth gear scattered through the garage. And somewhere underneath all of that, my studio is trying to reappear.

After weeks of packing, driving, setting up, selling, tearing down and doing it all again, this week is about resetting Two Gems — inventory, booth supplies, tools and finally the bench.

Not particularly glamorous, but very much part of being a working jewelry artist.

Then I get to start making again. 🤍

Owyhee Blue Opal jewelry, heading back toward the landscape that inspired it.

These new Owyhee Basin earrings feature Owyhee Blue Opal set in Argentium® silver—and I’ve been saving their debut for Boise Art Museum’s Art in the Park.

What makes these stones especially fitting for Boise is where they come from. Owyhee Blue Opal is found in the Owyhee region along the Oregon–Idaho border, an area shaped by an ancient volcanic landscape and known for its opal, jasper and agate deposits.

I love the quiet landscape inside this particular pair—the pale blue, smoky white and dark horizon-like banding almost looks like distant water and mountains. That connection to place is exactly what draws me to stones like these.

And next week, they’re coming with me to Boise. I’m excited to be returning for my third year as a selected artist at Boise Art Museum Art in the Park.

Highlands Art Festival, I’m all set up! ✨

The booth is full of handcrafted jewelry inspired by the landscapes, textures, and stones I’m always noticing out on the trail — including plenty of new work making its first trip to a show.

If you’re nearby, come wander through, try something on, and say hello. I’ll be at the Highlands Summer Finale Art Festival today and tomorrow, August 29–30.
