Eventually these will be coming to market with me. I don’t think they will be set in their rocks in time for Saturday though. The poppy is made from brass, pearls and a rock. The dogwood is made from copper, silver and rock. I hand hammered each piece into the form you see now. While copper and brass will develop patina over time these have a crystalline wax to slow this process.

Views from the bench. I’m working on some more rock flowers. I love pulling these out of the super pickle. A super pickle is what I call regular pickle that’s been juiced with hydrogen peroxide. It’s how I get that pesky firescale off of brass.

Brass gets darker as it ages. I generally like the antique patina that develops but you can brighten them up with Brasso. Some of my earrings I coat with a clear varnish so that they don’t change color. Here are some simple designs I do in brass all with a unique texture and finish.

I’ve become enamored with goldenrod. It fills the field with yellow and seems to bloom forever. Let’s see if it dries well. The video in the second slide shows the two different types of goldenrod. It does smell wonderful hanging in the kitchen.
