Custom project highlight ✨✨ Gillian brought in a family ring from her fiancé Alex’s grandmother that she wanted to remodel into a more androgynous style that Alex would enjoy wearing! We worked through some sketches, brought Alex in on the project so that they could have some input, and worked out the design in wax models before they came in to cast the final ring. The design we created used the original band with its beautiful flowing river curves, with the original diamond set in a pebble of gold caught in the current.

Custom jewelry highlight ✨✨ Nonna is a doctor who was gifted a beautiful chrysoprase by a patient who had noticed her earrings with the same gem. She brought it to us wanting a pendant to wear with her earrings! We sketched up some ideas and she chose this simple hand-fabricated bezel setting and horizontal orientation to show off her delicious cabochon and give it a clean and lovely “floating” look 💚

Custom project highlight ✨✨ Nick had purchased a beautiful diamond and ruby engagement ring for his fiancé Destiny, and wanted to create a matching band using the rubies and diamonds from a sentimental family ring! We went over many different options and strategies, and finally landed on a fabricated semi-fitted band design that turned out beautifully and highlighted their sentimental gems while blending well with the original ring!

Custom project highlight ✨✨ Ethan brought in this fantastic cushion cut lab diamond and wanted to use it as the center piece in a ring for his partner Elias! We used two accent diamonds from Elias’ mother’s ring for a little extra sparkle and sentiment, and refined this simple architectural design through sketches and wax models. Ethan and his future mother-in-law came in together to do the casting in 18k yellow gold 💖 The ring came out sleek and romantic, and with SO much sparkle!

Custom project highlight ✨ Hannah and Tomás came to me looking for wedding bands without an exact vision for their project but knowing that they wanted two rings with a similar theme that showcased their love of nature. We stared with gems, and they both fell in love with parti color sapphires. From there, we bounced around some theme ideas and landed on their shared love of ferns!

We sketched, we built wax models, and we refined until we had two gorgeous unique bands tied together by their fern motif and featured sapphires. Hannah’s larger blue/green gem sits wrapped in fern fronds that continue around the band. Tomás has more stylized, recessed fern fronds that that highlight his smaller gem which is set in a flowering stem.

This was a fun project to feature because it’s a great example of how to create totally individual, unique wedding bands that still go together without matching perfectly, and because it was done almost entirely virtually (we managed 3 rounds of wax and a casting in their one week visit to Seattle), which is always an exciting challenge!

When & Where ✨ Two hours in the evening on the third Thursday of every month (more or less), starting this Thursday, April 16th! Hosted at Glitter and Gold Studio in S**O, Seattle. (Come see the inner workings of an active jewelry studio!)

What ✨ Gem hounding, friend making, and a moment to connect and relax that benefits the incredible work of The Lavender Rights Project on "advancing gender self-determination, collective safety, and community-rooted systems of care" (profits from all Glitter and Gold mining events are donated directly to the organization).
