A closer look at the art of heishi. ✨

Gerard and Mary Ann Calabaza of Kewa Pueblo create these pieces by hand, shaping and stringing each tiny bead into their distinctive designs.

A lot of work goes into something this beautiful.

There are so many ways to wear Navajo pearls beyond just adding a pendant.

Wear them classic, add a pendant, double them up, wrap them around your wrist as a bracelet… and then there’s my new favorite:

Navajo pearls + a bolo = a lariat. 🤠

I was playing around with different ways to wear them and came up with this fun idea. I haven’t seen anyone else do it this way yet have you?

For the lariat, I used a 36” strand of 4mm Navajo pearls. You’ll need a bolo with loops on the back rather than a clip, and since the loops vary in size, make sure your pearls are small enough to slide through yours.

Want me to show exactly how I did the bolo lariat? Comment “LARIAT” below and I’ll make a tutorial.

Which way would you wear your Navajo pearls?

Save this for later + follow along for more fun and unexpected ways to wear the jewelry you already love.

If you love wearing layered necklaces, this little trick will save you time every single day.

Instead of fastening each necklace individually, connect them together first. Wrap them around your neck, then fasten just one clasp. You can adjust the lengths by slightly overlapping the necklaces in the back until they sit exactly how you like them.

If you wear layered necklaces often, this makes getting ready so much quicker.

Have you tried this before, or is this a new trick for you?

We’ve recently learned that Palomino ‘Turquoise’ isn’t actually turquoise its variscite from Mexico, near the Sonoran Turquoise Mine.

Like many, we were misled by its name and appearance due to the lack of clear information out there. Now that we’ve confirmed its true origin, we wanted to share this update with you.

If anyone has further insights about Palomino, we’re always open to learning more and keeping things real!
