Utility Clerk Job Description
Job description
We are seeking a meticulous and organized Clerk to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing all aspects of Utility Payment processing to ensure customers have payments applied to their accounts accurately.
Key Responsibilities:
Utility Clerk:
Assist visitors, answer phone calls, and direct inquiries to appropriate staff.
Input and maintain account data, including adjustments, billings, and contributions.
Process and post utility payments to customer accounts.
Prepare and distribute notifications regarding return mail, return checks, and service termination.
Accept deposits for new utility service and establish customer accounts.
Process final accounts following service termination.
Review reports on unauthorized water usage, excessive billing, uncollectible delinquent accounts, and manual utility billings.
Establish, transfer, and close utility accounts in the system.
Monitor delinquent accounts and collection activities when services are terminated for non-payment.
Assist customers in understanding utility accounts and respond to inquiries.
Handle customer complaints/requests, generate work orders, and forward them to the appropriate staff.
Receive and post customer payments, balance the cash drawer daily, and post daily deposits to the general ledger.
Manage municipal records, prepare reports, and perform routine clerical duties as needed.

Move about the office, bend, stoop, retrieve files, lift books or other materials, use step stools and step ladders to store and retrieve items of various sizes, shapes, and forms weighing up to 25 pounds.
