The parade kicks off at 10 a.m..... The parade routewill start in down town at the Civic Building, will go up Ellsworth towards Discovery Headquarters, and go southbound on Georgia Avenue towards Firestation 1 Restaurant. The Cultural & Ethnic Affairs Committee with the Office of Community Partnerships in collaboration with the Kaur Foundation invite you to a Celebration of Baisakhi Honoring Sikh Heritage at the Executive Office Building on Saturday April 21st from 3-5pm . There will be cultural performances, family activities and light refreshments.
Baisakhi is the one of the most important and transforming events in Sikh history and this year marks its 313th commemoration. Besides its enormous religious significance as a landmark event in Sikh history, Baisakhi marks the beginning of harvest time in Punjab , northern India . Sikhism is the fifth largest faith in the world. Baisakhi is one of the most joyous and colorful festivals of India and is gradually becoming a major global cultural celebration.
This event, hosted by the Office of the County Executive’s Cultural and Ethnic Affairs Committee, is planned as an opportunity to learn about surrounding communities, nurture ties, enjoy traditional folk performances, and view an exciting video The Cultural Safari.
