Lynne Merchant

Lynne Merchant Lynne Merchant is a San Diego artist, whose wire jewelry creations have delighted the public for decades.

Her singular style, drawn from years of travel in Asia, Africa and Afghanistan, has influenced a new generation of artists and students around the world. Lynne studied at the feet of old master artisans, who taught her to observe how tribal jewelry moved, how it “danced” on the body. She drank tea in the souks and bazaars and feels fortunate to have learned her craft at a time when travel was easi

er and borders more open. Lynne works with simple hand tools, precious stones and found objects to craft her unique creations. She has kept detailed field journals for years and continues to travel the globe seeking new ideas and inspiration. You are welcome to visit Lynne at her Gallery/Workshop on South Cedros Avenue in Solana Beach, CA

The airport installation has landed!

The installation is complete and I’m really happy how everything worked out.
They have taken a grouping of my travel journals and blown them up to ‘Imax ‘
proportions (the naughty bits were covered up with stamps). And if that wasn’t enough we put our heads together and added many of the jewelry pieces that came out of my journals…some pieces I haven’t seen in years.

It’s a culmination of a series of my life’s travels and how it impacted my jewelry.

So if you’re traveling through the San Diego International airport, be sure to
stop by my exhibit in Terminal 2/Gate 22. It makes a really good read!
