Your coins deserve better than this. 😬🪙
Proper packaging and storage are a huge part of protecting a coin’s value.
These old cardboard 2x2 holders may have seemed perfectly acceptable when these coins were put away years ago, but time, moisture, staples, and aging materials can all become problems. Rusting staples can scratch a coin, old holders can trap contaminants, and poor storage conditions can lead to spotting, toning, corrosion, or other surface damage.
And with collectible coins, surface condition matters. A lot.
A few simple precautions can make a big difference:
• Use quality, coin-safe holders made for long-term storage
• Keep staples and other metal away from the coin’s surface
• Store coins somewhere cool, dry, and stable
• Avoid PVC-containing plastics and questionable storage materials
• Never assume that because a coin has been safely stored for years, its holder is still safe today
These coins are a great reminder that sometimes the packaging protecting your collection needs attention too.
When was the last time you checked the holders in your collection?
