The shape of a diamond can drastically alter and enhance the qualities of a stone. Diamond shapes can create the illusion of bigger size or make it sparkle more. Fancy shapes look bigger than others, such as oval or marquise shapes. Shape is not the same as cut. Shape refers to the diamond’s physical appearance and cut refers to the ability to reflect light. The shape doesn’t belong to the 4C’s diamond’s attributes.

Lady Diana Spencer and Charles, Prince of Wales, became engaged in February 1981. Her engagement ring consists of 14 solitaire diamonds surrounding a stunning 12-carat oval blue Ceylon sapphire set in 18-karat white gold. After Princess Diana's tragic death, the ring was passed down to her son William, who would give it to his bride-to-be, Kate Middleton, in the fall of 2010. So beautiful!
