Homework doesn’t make kids smarter. It just makes families miserable.

I’ve got four kids.

And let me tell you… homework has been one of the biggest battles in our house.

After they’ve already spent 7 hours sitting in a classroom — listening, writing, focusing, sitting at a desk — they come home exhausted.

And then what do they get? More of the same.

That’s when the struggle starts.

Tears. Frustration. Meltdowns at the kitchen table.

And parents? We’re not immune.

Mandy and I have lost count of the evenings that turned into stress-fests because we were just trying to “get it done.”

I don’t look back on those nights and think, “Wow, that really built character.”

What I remember is the tension. The short tempers. The way it stole time we could have spent actually enjoying each other.

My kids don’t need more pressure after school.

They need space to play. To rest. To laugh. To just be kids.

No kid grows up saying, “Thank God my dad made me finish every worksheet!”

They grow up remembering whether dad was patient… or constantly stressed.
