Meet one of our senior mares, Outlaw's Catipult's Blu Moon, aka “Mooney.”
At 23 years old, Mooney is definitely the head mare—and still as active and nosy as ever. She's the first to see what's going on, and if you happen to leave a gate open, you can be pretty sure she'll find it. 😉
Mooney's dam, Kamelot's Dancing Ballerina, was the first Shetland we ever purchased and the mare who started our love for Shetlands. Her sire, Town & Country's Catipult, is in the ASPC Hall of Fame and was the 1998 Pony of the Year.
Mooney is actually a gray-and-white pinto, although with age her markings have disappeared. We suspect she's homozygous for pinto, as every one of her foals has been a pinto.
Twenty-three years old, still curious, still keeping everyone in line, and still very much The Boss.
