Texarkana was home to no less than six National Banks spread across the two states between 1890 and 1999. Among these institutions was the City National Bank (Charter # 7382) which was the last to organize here in 1904 before liquidating in 1916 when it was then succeeded by the state-chartered Guaranty State Bank of Texarkana. Today only seven notes are recorded here overall by the National Bank Note Census including this specific note which is unique for both the type and denomination. Here the red-blue Treasury overprint remains distinct alongside the penned signature of (Assistant) Cashier Edward L. King while no impairments typical of this grade level are noted or noticed. Very rare and certainly an opportunity for the numismatist with ties to the area or calls Texarkana "home" in the present.

situated close to the geographic center of Bowie County roughly 25 miles away from Texarkana. New Boston stands as Texarkana's overshadowed counterpart in several ways even in numismatic terms. Served by two National Banks rather than the six that served both sides of the stateline in Texarkana, New Boston is represented by only 17 non-institutional notes in the National Bank Note Census where this note is one of two survivors representative of this short-lived type spawned by the Aldrich-Vreeland legislation in 1908. Here even circulation complements distinct eye appeal that easily overshadows the faded signatures of Cashier D.A. Chambers and President T.P. Trimble while good color is retained throughout making this the perfect piece for the collector looking to represent this rare community in their own holdings with a decidedly rare specimen.
