Imagine discovering a gold coin that spent 300 years at the bottom of the ocean.

In 1715, a hurricane sent eleven Spanish treasure ships to the ocean floor, taking fortunes in gold with them. Centuries later, salvagers began recovering their extraordinary cargo.

The story of these Spanish Escudos is as remarkable as the treasures themselves.

Not all gold investments are evaluated the same way.

A one-ounce bullion coin and a historically significant, limited-mintage gold coin may contain similar quantities of precious metal, but their valuations can be influenced by very different factors.

Bullion prices generally follow the underlying metal market, while collectible coins may also reflect rarity, preservation, historical importance, and collector demand.
A precious metals advisory approach examines these differences before making portfolio recommendations. The objective is to understand the characteristics of each asset rather than treating every gold coin as interchangeable.

Our latest article explains what advisory investing means and how it applies to physical precious metals.

You've spent decades contributing to your retirement account. You've diversified between stocks, bonds, and perhaps several mutual funds. But have you considered what nearly all those investments have in common?

They're valued in U.S. dollars.

Inflation can gradually reduce what those dollars will purchase, even when your retirement account continues to grow. That's why understanding purchasing power is just as important as understanding investment returns.

Physical gold has historically served as an alternative store of value, and eligible precious metals can be held within certain retirement accounts.

Our latest article examines the relationship between retirement savings, currency exposure, and physical gold.

Is your retirement plan banking entirely on the dollar?

The AI boom is creating an unexpected opportunity for one of the world's oldest precious metals.

Gold is used in advanced computer chips, electrical connections, and high-performance components found throughout modern data centers. Its conductivity and resistance to corrosion make it especially valuable in systems where reliability is essential.

As companies expand artificial intelligence infrastructure, demand for these specialized components is growing. The World Gold Council reports that AI-related applications helped support gold consumption in the electronics sector during the first half of 2026.

Gold's importance extends well beyond coins, jewelry, and central bank vaults. It also has a place in the technology shaping our future.

Gold isn't a new strategy.

Banks and central banks have held gold in their reserves for decades. Across changing currencies, interest-rate cycles and economic environments, physical gold has remained part of the institutional financial system.

Individual investors now have access to many of those same fundamental principles.

You don't need to be a central bank or manage billions of dollars to own physical precious metals, establish a precious metals IRA, or incorporate tangible assets into a broader portfolio.

Our latest article looks at what institutions have understood about gold for generations—and how that access has expanded to individual investors.

Why does gold often react when U.S. Treasury yields move?

It comes down partly to competition for capital. Higher yields can make interest-bearing assets more attractive, increasing the opportunity cost of holding gold. Lower yields can have the opposite effect.

The relationship is not absolute, however. Real interest rates, inflation expectations, Federal Reserve policy, the strength of the dollar and demand for physical gold all matter.

Our latest article examines the inverse relationship between U.S. yields and gold, and why understanding the bond market can help explain movements in precious metals.

Gold has recently moved lower after a significant period of appreciation, but a decline in price does not necessarily indicate a deterioration in gold’s longer-term investment case.

Several short-term forces can weigh on gold simultaneously, including a stronger U.S. dollar, higher Treasury yields, changing expectations for interest rates and investors taking profits after a substantial run. These factors can create meaningful corrections even while longer-term demand for physical gold remains supported by central-bank purchases, fiscal uncertainty and continued interest in diversification outside traditional financial assets.

For investors, the more useful question is not simply why gold fell. It is whether the economic conditions that supported higher gold prices have fundamentally changed.

Our latest article examines the recent decline, the forces behind it and why periods of price weakness can warrant closer attention from investors considering an allocation to physical precious metals.

A gold coin can be historically important, scarce and highly collectible, and still not belong in a Gold IRA.

Pre-1933 U.S. gold is a perfect example.

These coins survived a dramatically different chapter of American monetary history, and today their appeal can extend well beyond their gold content. Rarity, condition, history and collector demand can all matter.

So why aren't they Gold IRA eligible?

Our latest article explains the difference between collectible pre-1933 gold and the modern precious metals that meet IRA requirements, and why knowing that distinction matters.
