She woke up one morning and something just felt..different.
She couldn’t tell you what changed or how, only that as she began to take a long look at her life, her perspective began to change.
She realized that she couldn’t keep living her life the way she had been and ever be truly happy.
She needed more.
No, she deserved more.
So, as she exhaled deeply and glared into the mirror, she promised herself that her life was about to change.
She didn’t know how, only that she had put up with too much toxicity, negativity and discord.
That stopped now.
All the people that brought her down and caused her problems- especially the toxic ones- she was letting them go.
Just because she had history with them didn’t mean they deserved to stay in her life.
The ones that loved, supported and added to her life were the ones she was embracing from now on..
And walking away from the rest.
Closing the chapter on bad relationships, immature and selfish people..even the ones that never seemed to be there when she needed them to be.
It would be hard turning the page on so many that had been part of her life for so long,
but if she wanted to be happy- truly happy- this was the only way she’d be able to find her peace and grow into the person she wanted it be.
She was done living day to day and surviving one disaster only to find herself mired in another one.
She deserved better and she was determined to find that place where she could get ahead and be at peace.
It would take time, pain and challenge, but she knew that she could do it.
It wouldn’t be easy and she’d still have hard days, but was done with her old life.
She was ready to embrace the new.
The new passion that had been waiting for her.
The new love for herself and her life that had been dormant for so long.
She would take some chances, fall flat on her face and still get hurt-
But she’d learn, get stronger and evolve with each step of the way.
It was time.
Her time..and she was ready for the newest and best chapter of her story.
And this time, she wasn’t stopping until she found what she was looking for ..
It was finally her time to fly.

I stand quietly in front of the mirror, studying the lines of my face intently.
The passing of time shows gently in my smile, a reminder of the memories of the bellyaching laughs, harsh pain and even the tears I’ve cried.
I wouldn’t change any of it, no matter how hard things have been or what I’ve been through.
I’ve learned from my past, grown from my experiences and always emerged braver, wiser and stronger from the fires of life that tried to consume me.
Sure, it’s been hard to keep getting back up after I’ve been knocked down.
Sure, I’ve not always known how I would make
it through some of my days.
Sure, I’ve wondered how I would be okay after so much hurt, pain and disappointment.
But I was, every time…
Somehow, I picked myself up, dusted myself off and rose again, defiantly.
I never dwelled on the things that went wrong and I found a silver lining in every emotional storm that tried to tear me down.
And the most beautiful part of it was that I fought through it all by myself, without help from anyone else.
My loved ones were always there to cheer me on, but when the cards fell and it was time to ante up or fold, I played my hand as the strong resilient person that I am.
I won’t pretend that there aren’t still days that bring me down and reduce me to momentary tears, because there are.
I’ll never say that I don’t wish that I had someone beside me to share the journey…
Even though I have proved that I can make it alone over and over again.
So, don’t look at me with pity or concern, see me for the warrior I’ve become, brave and brash with the victories and peace that I’ve fought to claim.
I’ve healed myself from the pain I’ve felt, I’ve made peace with the past that still tries to visit me and I’ve finally figured out who I am.
I have earned every single thing I have and every beautiful part of my life through hard work, perseverance and determination…
And I did all myself.
That’s what I’ll always be most proud of-
The independence and fight that pushed me forward and helped me rise from the ashes, every time.
So, as a proud smile creeps across my face in the mirror as I prepare for my day, it’s a beautiful mix of courage, strength and confidence…
Because I know there’s nothing I can’t handle and nothing I can’t do.
With the wind at my back and my face towards the sunlight, happiness fills my soul and my heart smiles.
I got this and I always will.
Some might say I’m dangerous because I can’t be kept down.
I’d say I’m anything but dangerous…
Except to the people and obstacles that try to stand in my way.
Because they don’t stand a chance, because I’m a strong woman…
And today, like all others,
I’m unstoppable.

Her journey has never been an easy one- in fact, she never really had a choice on who she became or where life led her.
She set off to chase dreams and find adventure and somewhere along the way, she ended up finding her strength instead.
She didn’t choose to become strong or become brave, she just did what she had to do to keep going and some days, just survive her life.
Truthfully, she didn’t know what she was doing most of the time or even how she’d make it through, but after the storms passed, she was always standing..strong and resilient.
She learned that sometimes, you learn more from the journey than the destination.
During those tough times where she forged her strength from the fire, she wouldn’t depend on anyone or anything, for she knew she could handle it all herself.
People might call her headstrong or stubborn, and she’d just smile and carry on.
She took great pride in her independence and no one would change that.
Her friends would always push her to look for love, to find a partner..because they cared about her and didn’t want her to be alone.
But this fiery woman full of life and spirit had always been okay with being alone- in fact, she thrived on it.
She loved her people and enjoyed their company, but she didn’t need someone else or for love to complete her or make her happy.
She found that long ago within herself and it was the best decision she had ever made.
So, when the suitors came calling and people asked why she wasn’t with someone, the fire behind her eyes would roar to life..
“Because I’m happy just the way that I am.”
She would never turn away what’s meant to be, but she wasn’t looking for anything.
She had found all she had needed in herself, the beauty of her life and the joy of being fully alive.
She let the universe decide who and what was meant for her and she’d keep living in the moment and being present.
That was what would always make her powerful indeed:
She had stopped surviving and started thriving..
Happy to be who she was, do what she wanted and never look back.
Her life, her choices.
She’d never settle for anything less.

She’s not like the others, and he knew it from the first hello.
She was a gentle and soft spirit, her kindness shone brightly through her actions and tender words.
At first, he didn’t know her story, a painful tale of strife and struggle..laden with emotional abuse and hurtful feelings from a hard past.
But the more she came out from behind her walls, the more he could feel the subtle sadness emanate from her soul.
He didn’t know what had broken this beautiful woman, only that he saw a magnificent creature before him that was so deserving of love..and he knew he was the one to give her what she wanted and craved, so he did.
He could feel the doubt in her heart as the little voices of insecurity born of a painful past tried to steal her joy.
She had been alone and forced to be strong-so she didn’t want to trust..especially not depend on someone else.
And all the men she had ever cared about did just what the ones before had done- hurt her and walk away.
She’d always manage to put her broken heart back together, but each time, she grew a little more distrustful, a little more guarded..
Until she found herself distanced and alone, almost unwilling to let anyone in.
So, when he stood before her, trying to take down the walls she had built around herself, she fought back out of fear and mistrust..
But little by little, he kept showing up, kept loving her and making her feel safe.
He saw her demons, felt her pain and just did the most beautiful thing he could do:
He held her closer, loved her harder and helped her see herself through his eyes.
She was only ever used to seeing only her flaws, jagged edges and things she didn’t like about herself.
But as he held her hand, she slowly began to see herself for the amazing soul that she was..
Deep, kind and loving..among so many other wonderful things.
Tears streaming down her face, she turned to him and hugged him fiercely.
Her voice cracked as she spoke softly.
“Thank you for loving me when I needed It most..and for making me feel more beautiful than I ever have before..”
Smiling, he wiped away the tears from her cheeks.
“I will never stop loving you the way you deserve..and I simply showed you who you really are- beautiful, inside and out.”
Nodding emotionally, she felt a smile breaking through the tears as her eyes met his.
He cupped her delicate face between his strong hands and softly kissed her forehead and lips.
“All I ever wanted to do was love you.”
Sobbing happily, she forced her face into his chest and squeezed him tightly.
She didn’t know what she had done to deserve a man like him, but she was thankful in a way she had never known.
This was what peace and love truly felt like, she realized, as she hugged him.
Smiling, that’s when she knew that this was exactly where she wanted to spend the rest of her days.
Home, in his arms, where she had always belonged.
