Two photos I shot for a Smithsonian Magazine feature on the ancient dwellings of Canyon de Chelly in the Navajo Nation were selected winners of the 2026 AP42 !!!
The first posted photo is of one of the winning photos. It’s a photo shot from the inside of the Tower House in Mummy Cave. The photo is a 20”x24” platinum/palladium print, one of eight, that I made in my darkroom and was shot with a custom 8”x10” film camera I made from different woods common to the Navajo Nation.
The next photo I posted is of the custom camera that shot the photo, then a photo of me climbing into the Tower House to shoot a photo from the inside. And the last is a video of me setting up the 8”x10” camera to shoot one of the winning photos.
HUGE thank you to the Navajo Nation, and my badass editor , and their amazing jury, Diné writer , , and my team of enablers who helped make it all happen. Thank you!!!!
